Is there a cure for tabitis?

I yam afflicted with a most loathsome condition. It compels me to mindlessly melee creatures without buffs or even any sort of tactical considerations when there is no reason whatsoever to take such a risk. Just now, I lost a perfectly good HEAs to a frog due to this incredible stupidity. A frog. On D:8. An assassin of Trog.

No Trog's Hand. No needles. No berserk. No tactical retreat. Just "well, let's hope that frog doesn't do 20 damage to me!"

Am I alone, in this little dunce corner? Is there a cure? Help me, O forum physicians, for I yam afflicted with a disease most foul and crippling. Methinks I am doomed to remain well below a 1% winrate for all time, until I yam saved from it.

Perhaps it should have a different name, for there have been many occasions when I went well beyond the point that the game disabled tab and warned me that I should probably consider other options.

You could try disallowing tab at a higher %hp in your rc file. Maybe 60 or 65%.

I know someone who got so mad at his lack of self control over tab that he mangeled his keyboard and threw the key across the room. It all came back to bite him when he found it really difficult to indent his paragraphs.

Situations in which autofight kills you are situations in which holding down a direction key or spamming a macro for casting a conjuration spell or whatever would also kill you. But there are many situations in which accidentally, stupidly holding down tab more than you should/intended to does not get you killed, when mashing a direction key in the same manner would have killed your character. The tab key saves lives.

I will not hurt the tab key. I love it. Sometimes I wonder if it returns my affections and daydream of living out the rest of my days with it.

Off to find a cure for insane moronitis, which is clearly the true root of my problems.

Just give your tab key some ibuprofen and ice it and hopefully the inflammation will go away.

Honestly, I've been just taking a break whenever I get into a situation where I'm at 50% HP. Break the immersion, go get some water or something, come back and realize I have all these consumables/options.
Edit, this doesn't work when I have spectators and feel like I wanna show off/keep them entertained. It really adds a weird aspect to the game.
