What is the plural of octopode?

If it doesn't fit anywhere else, it belongs here. Also, come here if you just need to get hammered.

What is the plural of octopode, as in "more than one octopode"?

What is the plural of octopode?

The plural of octopus can be anything from octopuses, octopi, and even... octopodes.

What, then, is the plural of octopode?

Bonus question: what is the term for a group of octopode?

I would suggest a "strangle" of octopodeses.

No. No. You go sit down in the corner and think about what you just wrote.

The option octopodeseses reminds of me of when I was a child and for some reason a few other kids I knew felt that "breasteseses" was the funniest word ever. You could add more "es" as needed, but usually at least three were used. I don't know if that is the best way to spell it, it sounded a bit more like breastasises maybe, but close enough. I have to admit, I thought it was funny too. I'm not sure how old I was, probably around 8-10 or so.

The plural of Octopode remains Octopode since in the offchance one of these rare creatures finds another Octopode, they are more likely to fight to the death than to coexist.

The name "octopode" actually came from the plural "octopodes" so I have a hard time believing it's anything else.

This is a corollary to "I'll agree with and continue the conversation no matter what your answer is because I'm more interested in you than what you actually said", which is commonly seen at parties
