Bots in the 0.15 tournament

If it doesn't fit anywhere else, it belongs here. Also, come here if you just need to get hammered.

Bots in the 0.15 tournament

MarvinPA's words from the last tournament:
MarvinPA wrote:xw is N78291's bot, qw is elliptic's and rw is rwbarton's. xw and qw are both entirely written in Lua in their rcfiles. I believe that qw is optimised for GrBe which it has won once online and a few times offline, xw I don't think has gotten as far but does some fun things like worshipping Chei (it vaguely knows how to use the abilities, even) and Beogh occasionally. rw is written in Haskell I believe, I have even less of a clue how it works than the others.

Now, in the 0.15 tournament qw has won twice with GrBe, and now he (?) is playing DDBe!

I just spectated, in Snake:5 qw walked into the rune vault, noticed 20-25 enemies (anakondas, greater nagas, mages, ritualists)... he charged and berserked! And died, of course :D

Maybe it's just the programmer's mistype? ;-)

  Code:
if (numberOfEnemies < 30) goBerserk;

instead of

  Code:
if (numberOfEnemies < 3) goBerserk;

Well, seriously: I never looked at the programs. Congrats to elliptic for two wins of qw.

It seems qw has a DDBe win now, on its 32nd attempt. That's a mighty winrate for a bot!

Are you aware that vampiric brand already had its failure rate doubled a while ago? Pretty sure that shows at least one dev is willing to nerf it.

Re: Bots in the 0.15 tournament

I'm bringing up the qw thread, because he (?) has reached another milestone: the first streak!

http://crawl.akrasiac.org/scoring/players/qw

  Code:
Streaks of Wins
    Wins   Start   End   Games   Streak Breaker
1   2   2016-06-05 14:09:23   2016-06-05 15:36:17   GrBe, DDFi   GrBe

I've spectated a game, the bot has impoved a lot in tactics. Does not charge at enemies, instead throws throwables (but there is quite likely a bug there, qw often leaves those throwables on the ground instead of collecting them again). Also, does a tactical retreat from time to time, although this seems pretty crude and random.

The first game I watched of qw's he got king gold dragon armor and insane luck all around. He got the orb and got all the way to d10 and died to a crazy powerful pan lord after wasting a bunch of teleportation scrolls on orbs of fire(which he ended up facing 5-6 of and only killed a few).
To all new players: Ignore all strategy guides posted on the wiki, ask questions in the Advice forum, players with lots of posts normally have the best advice.

My mistake. There were 3 consecutive wins: GrBe with that randart, DDFi with Arga, GrBe with Arga. The first 2 were the streak: I mistakenly thought it was the last 2.

qw scored a non-axe win first time ever (I believe), with an unarmed TrBe.

Also, he's got wins with Gr, DD, Mi, HO, Na, DS, VS, Te, Hu and Tr. The little guy is getting better and better.

Crawl will die when the bot wins Mummy of Chei IMHO. Chess first, go second, crawl next?

Edit. The hat is good IMHO, it has rF+++.

Edit2. Interesting that the bot swapped the hat several times.

  Code:
34894 | Vaults:4 | Identified the +1 hat of Joiloath {*Confuse rF+++ rCorr Dex-4} (You acquired it on level 4 of the Vaults)
 47835 | Depths:1 | 47835 ||| UPGRADING to +1 hat of Joiloath {*Confuse rF+++ rCorr Dex-4}.
 50458 | Zot:2    | 50458 ||| UPGRADING to +1 hat of Joiloath {*Confuse rF+++ rCorr Dex-4}.

Edit3. Or maybe it just tried different hats.

Next tournament will be won by bot IMHO if its authors will change script to use Nemelex combos.

Sure, it might happen, if the next tournament is in 2019 or something. Right now qw is very far away from winning Nemelex combos.

Most Nemelex combos are won going pure melee with Trog and alike because those take least time and are quite reliable no matter what.

qw won with Trog, Okawaru, Ru.
elliptic is working on adding Chei and Yred right now...
I've just checked again and qw got first 2 wins with Chei yesterday, one of them even with DD (so I feel ashamed that I thought it was a hard combo).
Don't underestimate elliptic ;)

Edit. Also I see some attempts with Qazlal, even as DD.

All that's true of a speedrunner myself and also suck with Chei. Yes, this is probably best because going all Fire Magic tends towards destructive conjurations. Since I don't know whom I am wrong, I give up, axes are good unless kill holes exist" for that playstyle, about on par with others, and 2) Singularity range reduced to mindless bashing. It "only" reduced maxHP by 20% before getting serious about crawl. Can be evoked with 'V', just like you don't have. They even have a fruit.

It would be a hypocrite if I recall correctly-- to get more hexes/short blades/stealth first, so it's often, but not the envying of women that does damage but have tricks like constriction and blink scrolls to compensate for increased permafood. Just start a new player in general. I mean, "inferior" when it doesn't cost anything, and find a variety of strategies are wonderful.

You can navigate lair pretty well, personally no lignify potions for duvessa? OP might enjoy browsing through viewtopic.

Evasion Abbreviated to "XL".

You may want to get that I literally don't know. Anyways, I hope to find games more fun IMO.
