Badforum: the sins of my youth

oh, the sins of my youth

I was just reading Badforum when I found a few of my entries. :)

Although most of them belonged their, I still to this day consider a lot of them at least somewhat true:

"197: nemelex is only for undead players"

It took me a while, but I finally understood how untrue this is. However, I do still believe undead species are a lot more fun to play(even if they aren't better followers).

"196: MuIE are the best pure casters in the game."

Oh my... Where to begin... First off, I apologize for any aneurisms I may have caused you out of frustration. I do still think mummies make for a potentially very layed back game. The game may as well be over once you have OOD Online and wand of healing. But as far as meta game goes, I admit mummies are pretty awful...

"180: Chei is way better than vehumet"

... Well, to be fair, I almost always get farther when I'm following Chei than with vehumet, but that's probably because I'm a terrible player and don't take the time to think unless I'm following Chei, not because Chei is inherently better.

Vehumet is definitely the better god, I greatly apologize.

Cheibriados felt strong during my first few months.
Lately, he's fallen down my Gods list. My Nessos vs. Cheibriados thread obviously. Then some other times, 2 bad guys in my los. Take 1 step, suddenly surrounded by 10.

I once told someone that rF+++ is mandatory for Zot.

Somehow, it didn't go on badforum. I don't know why.

Not on this forum, but I remember saying "Not using a shield is basically gimping your character" (I won a TrFi, I blocked a lot of enemy spells, I did not know how base damage is affected by skill despite reading wiki a lot).
Also, I used to believe for the longest time that AC does not apply to elemental damage because it seemed logical and I never checked it.

rF is "mandatory" as in you will probably die without, rF++ is good, but if you look at the difference between rF++ and rF+++ in terms of damage prevention (33% vs 20% damage taken) rF+++ is noticable, but not much better. 33% damage taken from OoFs is certainly enough.

@Scalding Steam that's bad advice of course, but I think there is still a huge difference between it and most of badforum

Oohhhh, ok, that makes sense. When I saw rF+++ I was thinking in my head "rF++ at least, rF+++ if you can". Thank you for clarifying. :)

I suppose it's a small kindness to give the perpetrators a small amount of plausible deniability.

I don't get it, what is the connection between Nemelex and being undead?

Legendary pain is torment so some people flat out refuse to use legendary dest due to this.
Coincidentally it's often the same people who try to "scum wonders".

Undead players can sacrifice all of the food items they find, which give you decks of wonder, which have cards of experience, which are really good.

The connection is that undead characters have less uses for corpses and food, so you are able to sacrifice most everything without having to tediously choose which corpse to eat and which one to sacrifice.

That's why I enjoy undead of nemelex more, less micromanagement. :)

Also, yes, scumming experience is definitely fun IMO, maybe not optimal, but I enjoy the feeling I get from drawing cards from wonders. Makes me feel like I'm rolling for big money, and I for one enjoy that quite a bit.

I have played a proper vampire of nemelex before though, at least I think I did, that shit was easy mode.

Re: Badforum: the sins of my youth

When I play Nemelex and kill dudes I just chop corpses if I am hungry and then press o and autosacrifice does its magic.
Managing a big number of decks still can be annoying though.

Thanks! The "promotion" was a surprise for me and I'm still not entirely sure I deserve it. Oh well, I'll try to put more effort in my posts now.

I feel the same way. Now I have to try harder not to say stupid stuff in posts. I'm off to a shaky start, I'm sure.
