I will not play as anything other than Hu

I'm not sure why, but this is how I feel these days. When I play as any races other than Hu, I get so pissed off when I die. But not so much if it was a Hu.

Are there any of you guys feel this way too?

No, I'm not joking, I really do feel like playing only Hu and nothing else these days. I read somewhere that crate feels this way too. Maybe this is because I'm tired of gimmicks? I'm not sure.

99% of my games are split between humans and demigods. Overall I find demigods more fun then humans, so I agree 49% with you.

You should try demigods too if you like the special human gimmick of good at everything. Demigods are very good at everything but without a god.

Hey, there's nothing wrong with just playing the non-gimmicky races, which is pretty much Hu, HE, Dj, Mi, HO, and Ha by my count. I think Crawl is very much a "something for everyone" type of game. I mean, heck, you can just play one combination over and over and over and end up with entirely different games and styles every time if you so choose. Especially with Hu.

Played my first serious Hu game yesterday, but I was a Human Transmuter, so I think that defeated the purpose. Got farther than my average before kicking it, though!

Everything that needs food pisses me off, and I tried Djinni but their mechanics (especially spells costing HP) pisses me off even more than food, so I just stick with mummies.

Exactly. I give all races equal chances to succeed. I play with one race and different backgrounds until I get a character to at least mid-game before splatting. Then I proceed to the next race. They all deserve a chance!

I have a hard time playing mummies because their own issues irritate me so much. I tried to like them because the food mini-game doesnt interest me but now that food sickness is gone I find food almost completely irrelevant, its just a barely noticable and very small annoyance anymore.

Reason I like human/demigod so much is it's easy to try to build around any cool thing I find, for example my last guy died wielding zonguldrok after having spent the early game magic blasting. It's good fun!

that is interesting. I find Hu very, very bland, and do not like the feeling that when your level go up, nothing happens. thats why I prefer demonspawn and draconians. gargoyles are cool too, in this point.

I really like playing Hu now and have stuck to the more balanced, ungimmicky races in general recently. With the really specialized races, my games always seemed highly constrained to one build. I like generalist combos a lot more now that I'm learning to adapt on the fly and survive off of floor trash.

I like it because one is not tied to an specific build with them, but they are not as tasteless as Hu or HE. I like HO, though.

I'd have to say the only thing that leads me to consider Hu for a build is the fast leveling... I'd have to agree that Demonspawn and the like are a bit more exciting. I guess it could be said that with Hu you're leaving a lot of options open.

Out of all of them, I think the only one I've never tried is Octopode.

with Hu, you will level faster, but nothing exciting happens when you level up, so, it is not that nice.

I play a lot of Felids nowadays. Not sure why, because they are the single race I hate the most by far, and it seems I always commit suicide in disgust before I reach Zot.

Hu has 0 in most skills, Ds has -1 in most skills. I don't want to play Hu if I can play Ds. The same freedom with training but still every character is unique.
