CIP Need spiritual advice

After trying out pure casters and disliking the tedium associated with midgame macro spamming I decided to reroll another husk of meat to endure mutations with and hopefully take to hell/pand.

Issue is, I really really cannot make up my mind about which god to pick. Xom has let me down a lot recently and Jivya is really underwhelming to me (the magic is gone after trying him out a few times, I thought I'd be "shapeless" as his religion described, not just repeatedly gaining/losing level 1 mutations). I was considering Kiku, but I've got the Rn mutation growing and I'm not sure if his given powers will be of too much use. Sif was an option until I just recently picked up the book of changes. Chei/Ash seem to be a slightly bad choice as I have monstrous status and am developing hooves/claws and most certainly will have some form of head ornaments.

I'd love to get some advice from someone experienced in regards to lategame delving/appropriate gods.

On another note, I've fallen in love with starting out as a monk, it feels like a wanderer with great melee capabilities. This came from a recent experience when trying to get one of these guys rolling past the lair. In this I had found a glowing long sword on d2, picked it up and equipped it only to find it was one of distortion. Given that an abyss trip would mean almost certain death, I rolled with the sword. Though I was unable to get through the lair due to dickheadedness on my part, I was really impressed at the smooth transition (probably not much given that it was only on d2/3, don't pop my bubble hah). Blinking a poison gatling gun centuar away from you repeatedly, without a potion of healing resulted in 10 hp and red poison status.

I probably definitely maybe won't be able to wear anything in the head/hands/feet slots (if monstrosity is all it's cracked up to be in the wiki), with only jewellery/torso cursed is it still worth it?

I don't think Demonspawn can gain more than one monstrous body part. Are you sure both of the hooves and the claws are demonic and not ordinary mutations?

If you are monstrous (1 in 10 chance), then you get 3 body-slot facets but you get scales or a breath weapon, not both. You still get 2 tier 2 facets and 1 tier 3 facet, for 7 facets total


Quote is from wiki. It's told me that I am monstrous in game after acquiring my first mutation ("You feel monstrous as your demonic heritage somethingsomething"), so I'm under the assumption I've got a head slot to fill + another mutation of some kind.

Clarity/Eyesight were accidental when drink-iding some potions I got one of mutation.

Wow, that's new to me.

So... as far as I know, Ash can still be useful for you, even though you're monstrous. The game calculates piety gain by how many body slots you have. So even if you can only wear cloak for some reason, you can still get maximum piety from your armor (that is by cursing your cloak).

Right, that seems viable then. Too bad the two great mutation I was given will be redundant with Ash as they are both given, though I've found a bunch of cure muts already so I can try out that "drink 40 mut potions and hope" technique, though what irks me is they might modifiy the non-demonspawn demonspawn mutations (claws/hooves etc even if in the pink status can be changed by Xom/Jivya it seems, don't know if potions can.) while doing that.

One more question, "weapon slot" assuming that involves a shield/weapon? Guessing I'll have to skip on that.
