CiP: SpCj of Vehumet (now YASD)

I'm new to crawl as of a couple of weeks ago and after dying a lot I decided to try a Spriggan just so I could run away. I started as a conjurer because I was familiar with the spells in that book, but Conjurations are the worst Spriggan magic aptitude, so that probably wasn't so smart. I also found the fire book and a summoning book, again neither of which are my strong aptitudes, but I've memorized some fire spells for a few more tools in the arsenal. This is probably the furthest I've gotten with a caster.

I could use feedback on skills and spell selection in particular, but all feedback is welcome. Should I go start on the Orcish Mines or wait for Fireball to be usable and go find Lair first? Should I stop training Spellcasting, if so what should I be training?

Yes, you have more than enough spellcasting for now.

Memorize Battlesphere. it turns you into a double-barreled machine gun, and spriggens have a high charm aptitude so getting it castable is a breeze.

With Battlesphere you can cast it, then a bunch of magic darts and kill everything in the lair, using IMB for larger threats (My Cj can cast battlesphere then lob 2-3 IMB's at a hydra to kill it, 1 on a good day)

Sticky flame is also one of the best offensive spells available, and it's doubly effective as a spriggan, you can walk up to something sticky flame it then walk away while it burns to death.

Train some Charms to get Battlesphere online, then train Conjuration or Fire (Depending on which spell you find yourself using more often)

Don't train spellcasting again until you need more spell slots to memorize higher level spells (You have 10 free slots right now)

Now a YASD, got to Lair:1, (first time ever for me), and a ghost nuked me for 33 damage in one hit. The unidentified high level spell book I had was the Necronomicon. Sucks dying with so many options. I should have blasted that ghost with a wand or something, it was almost dead.

Re: CiP: SpCj of Vehumet (now YASD)

Consider removing all ghosts when playing locally, it is not a cheat. I hate ghosts so I always delete them.
