Goal was to go dragon form and tornado for absurd amounts of damage, but I have to say I was kind of underwhelmed by dragon form. Not the damage, which was of course very high, but it was just such a nerf to both AC and EV. My stats at death were 27 ac and 22 ev, but that's highly boosted by a +5 ac ring, having 27 dex because of chei, and phase shift was active. I had much better defenses in draconian form.
that aside I made plenty of tactical and strategic errors, the main strategic one being that I should have finished off unarmed combat, and raised fighting/dodging significantly more before plunging so much into as many magic schools as I did. Tactically I was staying in fights too long and didn't watch my magic closely enough - I got worn down teleporting around and stepping from time and trying to regen, that I actually ran out of mana. I couldn't afford the second step from time that I needed, and was out of heal wounds. I actually tried to use curing to boost my regen and hope that I could dodge hill giants
I didn't really expect it to work, I just didn't have the mana to do anything better.
Condensation shield was mentioned as something that I didn't go for that might have helped. Trample was also something I didn't realize dragon form does, and it leads to some unpredictable behavior especially when you're worshipping chei and correcting your position is a very hard thing to do. It's funny to get a free step included in your .6 turn action, but ultimately if there was a toggle for trampling I'd have turned it off.
I think dragon form, at least for draconians, should have slightly more of an AC boost. 22 AC on a dragon at level 24 is basically the same as a caster in a robe, and less than a caster in +6 mottled dragon armor.

Goal was to go dragon form and tornado for absurd amounts of damage, but I have to say I was kind of underwhelmed by dragon form. Not the damage, which was of course very high, but it was just such a nerf to both AC and EV. My stats at death were 27 ac and 22 ev, but that's highly boosted by a +5 ac ring, having 27 dex because of chei, and phase shift was active. I had much better defenses in draconian form.
that aside I made plenty of tactical and strategic errors, the main strategic one being that I should have finished off unarmed combat, and raised fighting/dodging significantly more before plunging so much into as many magic schools as I did. Tactically I was staying in fights too long and didn't watch my magic closely enough - I got worn down teleporting around and stepping from time and trying to regen, that I actually ran out of mana. I couldn't afford the second step from time that I needed, and was out of heal wounds. I actually tried to use curing to boost my regen and hope that I could dodge hill giants
I didn't really expect it to work, I just didn't have the mana to do anything better.Condensation shield was mentioned as something that I didn't go for that might have helped. Trample was also something I didn't realize dragon form does, and it leads to some unpredictable behavior especially when you're worshipping chei and correcting your position is a very hard thing to do. It's funny to get a free step included in your .6 turn action, but ultimately if there was a toggle for trampling I'd have turned it off.
I think dragon form, at least for draconians, should have slightly more of an AC boost. 22 AC on a dragon at level 24 is basically the same as a caster in a robe, and less than a caster in +6 mottled dragon armor.
