I thought temple was hard to find and believed kiku (ironically found temple soon after that). Thought training necromancy would help against undead-either summon my one undead army combined with ice beast, and (hopefully) use dispel undead later.

My question right now is what skill should I train now? Fighting for hp? More necromancy to get animate dead&dispel undead? Or Ice/conjuration for more spellpower?

Any other advice is greatly welcomed. This is my first time playing a caster that isn't FE/conjurer and have progressed this far.

I would transition to pain melee (as you will have the chance to brand a weapon soon). Yes -2 Necromancy is annoying but your great apitudes with everything else (fighting, polearms, dodging) will make up for it. 7 Necro is the minimum to make it always trigger, so get polearms and fighting next, then probably 15-20 Necro.

Basically any non-halberd polearm is reasonable to brand, so decide if you want speed or base damage, shield or no, and choose accordingly.

You mean kiku ability to brand pain into weapon right? Too bad I'll have to forgo this decent trident. I have a buckler, so I'm wondering whether I should pain-brand trident or halberd. Being merfolk I think trident would be better as buckler would give some decent AC and shield...

Cleared orc 4, got necromancy up to 15, and got trident pain-branded. What should I do now? I have a book with freezing cloud and would like to get that spell, and I think getting dispell undead I could stop training necromancy.

Trying to get freezing cloud to a reliable degree for midgame. Or should I try something else? Pain weapon is good, but I feel I should have some AOE spell for multiple enemies. Feeling rather lost here.

Yes, Freezing Cloud will be very useful. But I am not sure it is good idea to train Conjuration now. You have better aptitude for Ice Magic (which improves AC by Ozocubu's Armour) and training some Air can be useful too (it increases spell power of RMsl/Swiftness/DMsl).

Got 2 runes, guess gonna try vault or dungeons now.

For skills, should I keep training ice, or start investing on something else? Maybe dodging/fighting so that I don't get much dmg from yaktaurs? Armor? Obviously I can't rely on Pain trident on zot:5 (going for 3-rune game). Spellwise I'm also not sure what to do. I could try to learn bolt of draining, don't know how much it's gonna be useful.

Also, there's a trove requiring two acquirement scrolls. I can buy one from the shop. Should I just use the scroll, and if I choose to do so, what should I get? Don't think asking for weapon would help.

Wow, didn't honestly expect to win as IE. It was a novel experience playing somewhat of a hybrid style. Zot 5 was a bit tough, mostly relied on shadow creatures+simulacrom from kiku's corpses. Guess I was lucky 'cause I didn't had to fight a single OOF-by the time it came into view I was already holding zot orb while being hasted :D
