This is usually were I get in the game and die... I'm not 100% sure where to go with my skills right now.
My current plan is something like
-get dodgeing to 20
- fighting to 20
- work on evocations or a secondary long range skill (bows/crossbows)
- max maces/fighting/armour in that order but at same time

I figure vaults is were I should be pushing right now? I can't remember what I ran into in the dungeon below that made me think I wasn't strong enough to go further down yet. Or are there other branches right now that would be easier... I don't really have good sources of poison resist yet, but I think I have something stashed just cant remember off the top of my head.

Don't do vaults:5 yet. Your plans sound good, but you can certainly visit Elf, Shoals, or D after crypt (do crypt after vaults 3 or 4). You can also power through spider without rP if you don't have a ring - I'd be concerned about tarantella confuse though.

you can ctrl-f for things like "poison resistance" "rpois" etc.

There is no way that Mennas would kill this character if you use Heroism, Finesse and the potion of might. There isn't any real benefit to killing him though, so for the sake of saving the potion I'd just leave him alone anway.
By the way, drop the enchant weapon scroll (it could get burned) and try to find a strong great mace, as dire flails aren't very good.

The best great mace I've come across so far is a +2/+0 great mace of draining, I've keep this dire flail cause is started as a +6/+4.... is the 5 points of base damage worth the switch. or carrying it around to enchant everytime I find more enchant scrolls?

Shoals was a laugh it was so easy... even the yaktaurs did nothing to me. Cant believe I've never done this branch. Spiders a piece of cake at this point to... just got to floor 5 before I had to go to work. Assuming getting the orb doesn't kill me I think I might get my first win out of this charater

Cleared crypts too but stopped after clearing vaults :3... only thing that's scarring me right now is torment. One of those skulls in crypt got me with it three times in a row right before I smacked it with one hit and killed it O.o

The best great mace I've come across so far is a +2/+0 great mace of draining, I've keep this dire flail cause is started as a +6/+4.... is the 5 points of base damage worth the switch. or carrying it around to enchant everytime I find more enchant scrolls?

That isn't very good, no. The dire flail is probabl better for now, but it is not an "endgame weapon" either. Do you have a scroll of vorpalise weapon and a book with fire/frost brand? If yes, you can cast the spell (take off armour), make the brand permanent and use the great mace. For this you will need an unbranded great mace, optimally the one with the highest enchantment you can find.

Wield the weapon, cast fire brand (make sure it is successful and you get the "flame" effect on your weapon), read vorp scroll.

Oh, and make sure you're not standing near your pile of scrolls when doing that...

Even white great maces can have enchantments, just no brands. One of them could be much better than +0!

I remember some dev mentioned that +3 weapons cannot be white, they become blue because chance to become blue is plus2/3.

Edit: No, I confused it with Armour. Armour cannot be white if it is +3.

That is a too-good-to-exist CPA you have there (because it's +16, I didn't even read what shiny stuff it has besides that) and you now have good rF and rC. Provided you're intending to do a 3-rune win, you shouldn't be facing the threat of persistent Int drain (i.e. meeting many neqoxecs and such).

Stay calm and don't mess up. Being too lucky with equipment can also be fatal as you start getting lax.

Seconding Mak, Ash and Nem as alternate MiFi gods. Fedhas would work too but the other 3 would be more fun and useful for a MiFi I think.

Fedhas is far and away the strongest god in the early game (mushrooms) and on Zot:5 (other branch ends too, if you have enough fruit). I never have too much trouble inbetween as MiFi anyway.

That was my point - MiFi is strong enough to not need the power boost from Fedhas in earlygame and while Oklob artillery is definitely fun, I was thinking of something more renewable for him to use throughout the game.

My point was the exact opposite ("not a lot of trouble inbetween"), I don't think earlygame is easy for MiFi, it's a godless melee character without a book or any decent escape/offence items. At the very least I'd pick an early Fedhas altar. These are quite common.
I also guess that Sunlight could be kind of useful if you are using low-acc weapons, but that's not really a big issue.

early game fedhas = having 3-5 permanent allies which are all approximately as strong as you are (providing you have found a 2-hander already)
