[CIP] XL12 DeCj vs. the world

Hey guys,
so i started playing crawl again after a while and really fell in love with the new vehumet and conjourers. I have won a couple of 3 and 4 rune games, but all with berserkers of Trog or gladiators of Oku.
Please help me decide on the next steps with this character, i feel like this has the potential to be my first pure magic user to clear the lair.

Some things first:
- I know quaff IDing is not optimal, but the mutations i got dont really affect me at all
- Skills are a mess because i always had a specific spell goal (poison -> mephitic, then earth for lrd and ice for freezing cloud)
- i m on D13 and still no lair yet :/ had a couple of skeletal warriors on the last level which seemed awfully early!? want to move into the lair as soon as possible.

any advice how to survive the situation? I had swiftness and the ice armour up even before i met that centaur pack.
My thoughts:
-if i activate tp and start quaffing heal wounds i m afraid of what else i might encounter on this floor until i find the entrance to the lair)
-try to mephitic them and kill them with battlesphere and mystic blast?
- something entirely else?

i might not answer until tomorrow, because i ll be going out in a bit. But i appreciate any advice :)

Are the up stairs safe? If so, I'd maybe quaff the invis potion and move away from the centaurs, then head upstairs to heal up.

Mmm yeah, Invis is the only safe way to get out of that situation. You may want to kill the centaurs while you are invis though - I don't think (read: I'm not 100% sure) they can track you when you cast F.cloud (because smite targetted). Basically, keep moving about until you notice they're shooting in the wrong direction and then F.cloud them (but no other nuke).

If you do get out of this alive, start training Dodging and Fighting. You've over-trained on offense for this part of the game. I know, Vehumet keeps pushing you for more and more spell slots but you need some defence too. His final gift will have no expiry time and you already have all the nukes you need to get to lategame.

Thank you two. I think i will go invis and try to kill the centaurs. I will have to find the lair stairs on this floor and i dont like the idea of running into them later together with other monsters.
Those stairs are safe btw. :)

Edit:
it worked flawlessly :) i REALLY REALLY love the new battlesphere. seems like a really mana efficent way to deal more damage
