This was my first real shot on a Halfling Hunter and I really enjoyed it! She never felt overpowered and I always had to be tactical and careful. Overconfidence is my number one killer.

I also really like the new Vaults. The layouts are something new and all those human monsters make it more atmospheric. It was fun to learn what convokers can do.

I also like the new layout of the Abyss, but at some point I got really frustrated. I spent nearly an hour (6k turns) in the Abyss actively running around, but never found an exit. I didn't find good documentation on the new Abyss (only the exits are more common with the rune and the rune appears only at lvl3-5). The zymes are very nasty because they drained my stats very quickly due to sickness.

So is it only a near zero chance to find an exit without the rune? That would mean that you have to dive deep to find it fast (gates to deeper parts of the Abyss are very common).

This was a very fun (and already long - 8 hours) run with a lot of challenging and rewarding parts (esp. Vaults), but also very frustrating in the end because I had to stay so long in the Abyss until my consumibles were worn out.

You can get out at Abyss:1 pretty fast with no rune if you're lucky. Or you can be unlucky and be stuck down there for aeons (uh, you were exploring for most of those 6k turns right?). You do have to keep moving (you had swiftness) and the zyme threat is there to eat into your consumables one way or another.

Yeah, they ate away my potions of curing. And yes, I was exploring all the time. I didn't use Swiftness though and that's a good point. I think I use my spells on hybrids not often enough.

I don't know how perceptive 0.12 abyssal monsters are, but if they're similar to 0.11 abyss monster, from this point of view, I suggest to not use swiftness unless is really necessary, because it halves stealth: very stealthy means you usually have a decent amount of turns to get outside the LOS of enemies, so you don't actually to run away from many foes if you move correctly and consequentially there's no need to move faster than 10 aut.

The latest commits include making Zyme sickness take time to set in. This means it's now possible for a high stealth character to walk away and not end up sick, unlike before where even glancing at a zyme for 1 turn made you Red Sick.

Thus newAbyss has become a lot more reasonable. I used to treat it like Hell.
