YAVP: 15 rune, another OPFI with Jiyva

Octopodes are overpowered. I find a melee Octopode much easier to play than a melee Ogre for example. But anyway, I tried another run with a melee Op, similar to my previous win, but this time I went Oka->Jiyva, instad of Trog->TSO. It was much more fun. The only issue was lacking a good end-game weapon. So I had to switch to a Eudemon blade, which I got from the holy level in Pan. Jiyva is OK, but multiple rings of regeneration and slaying are better.

Extra wield-slots is indeed very powerful. It has to be. Imagine if you would be offered/allowed to play a race with an extra pair of arms (i.e. 2 glove slots, 2 one-handed weapon slots/1 two-handed, 4 ring slots & 2 buckler slots/1 medium or large). Now that would really be over the top. Good items are not rare in the game. Really good ones are. Extra wield-slots gives you the possibility of stacking good effects/stat boosts/resistances without depending so much on the lucky find. Collecting medium quality rings for OP is easy enough, but the power & flexibility gained this way is pretty impressive. That explain why you can find crazy OPFI as well as crazy OPWZ. A lot of fun & customization that is, but of course, if you can survive the early game.

Anyhow you really are tempting me with this build. Might give it a try. Oka is great & I never tried Jiyva. I notice a lot of player picking her (him ? it ?) for the endgame. Why ? Is it for the mutation thing, the slime pit thing, or is there a deeper reason ?

Octopodes are one of my favorite races to play, but I have a very difficult time getting melee podes very far. It may just be my play style, but their squishiness seems to be a big factor. Do I just need to focus on softening everything up with floor trash (darts, daggers, etc)? If that is the case, I may just have to stick with caster podes because I just find that too tedious.

I am surprised to see you say you did not have a good endgame weapon. Are the speed trident and demon trident not good enough? Or do you absolutely need a holy weapon for extended?

You don't absolutely need a holy weapon, it could be speed or anti-magic too. But it has to be the best base type for that class of weapon, hence why a mere trident would never cut it and if the demon trident didn't have anti-magic or speed, it also wouldn't cut it. Those brands are not so essential for big 2h weapons but this Op was using 1h melee, which doesn't leave a lot of leeway.

Unlimited food, in-combat HP/MP gains (though this has been toned down after a bug was fixed), GUARANTEED "do not want to fight you" option (Slimeify), Remove Bad Mutation.
