YAVP: MfAK (or, how to skip Zot:5)

I'm posting this for a friend (disciple? convert to the divinity which is crawl?) with no crawl account, who just got his first ascension. The story is awesome enough that it must be told...

It was a fairly typical MkAK start, scum the (old) Abyss till you meet a situation you can't survive and aa. That makes the first 6-8 floors easy, and by then he had found a glaive of venom, and was happily chopping monsters to pieces. That was upgraded to a bardiche in Lair, which was accidentally vorpalised, and then later distortified (after a quick trip to the Abyss to find an altar.) Between that and a good selection of buffs trained fairly early on (Haste, Swiftness, Phase Shift, Repel and then Deflect Missiles) and a few escape spells (Blink and then Controlled Blink toward the end) he was able to deal with almost any situation handily. Almost.

Several important moments:
Enter the Hall of Blades immediately on finding it, only to see Mara was generated there. Easy way to keep from ever having to fight him.

While clearing the Vestibule, he was nearly overcome by summons of Murray and Geryon, and had to flee upstairs. He then came back down with all buffs on and proceeded to banish them both with his distortion bardiche. And had to go hunt Geryon down (several times) in the Abyss before finally recovering the horn.

After the classic four runes of an AK (Shoals, Snake, Abyss and Vault) he went after the Slime rune. All went smoothly until TRJ summoned several great balls of eyes, which paralyzed him down to exactly 1 HP. An uncontrolled blink teleported him to the edge of the slime horde, and he fled (with Haste + Swift) for the stairs. After he came back down again, he sought out TRJ again, and made short work of banishing him to the Abyss with his distortion bardiche. An attempt at corrupting his way into the vaults failed, as neither of us had ever used Corrupt and thought it affected the whole level. So, the only thing left was to hunt down TRJs lousy hide in the Abyss. For 6000 turns he played cat and mouse with TRJ, eventually switching to a demon trident of flaming he had for hydras, to keep TRJ from teleporting away before he could die. All to no avail. TRJ would repeatedly be down to a sliver of health when Lugonu decided enough was enough, and entombed either Eric or TRJ. Or teleported him to a new region. Or...

In the end, the slime vault remained locked, and the extended endgame was abandoned in mild annoyance. (I seem to recall hearing "I will NEVER take your advice on brands again!" Several times in fact...

Zot:5 was prepped for, with 2.5 levels of rF (2+dragonskincloak), rMut, buffed EV>50, etc. Enter Zot:5. Hit o. Land on a teleport trap, and see four orb guardians staring you in the face. It looks like the orb chamber... Maybe just past that wall? Haste, and move toward the wall... Wait a Minute! There's the orb right where we were standing! Run back to exactly where the teleport had landed him, snatch the orb, teleport a couple times, land him within ten squares of the upstairs he came down, and flee.

And that is how you skip all of Zot:5 on your first ascension. I think Xom was so utterly amused at his trials over TRJ that he gave him this one incredible blessing.

Oh, and the distortion brand actually proved awesome on the orb run. Nothing like it for simply getting dudes out of your way.
