DECj got really nasty mutations, going to die

Hello guys. I had been doing it very well but suddenly the pers got really nasty mutations. I'm not sure about the cause, probably it was an Ice Storm miscast, as a result I got yellow magic glow and contamination, then some bursts happend and the character got the mutations. I think the character is going to die.
So I have several questions:
1. If I had have put the amulet of resist mutation after I got the glowing and contamination but before bursts happened, would it have helped?
2. What cause could provoke the mutations except the ones I mentioned above?
3. What about the spell list and the skills progress? Were they OK?
4. If I had not have got the mutations, where shoud I have gone?
5. Can I do something to win the game? I don't have any potions of cure mutation.

I think you have enough gold to worship Zin, give him all your money (pray on his altar several times), wait for 6*, and get your mutations cured. You can then abandon zin for any god you like (including going back to Vehumet). Your other option is to worship Jiyva, but Jiyva wrath is not really something you want to have probably.

I've found in testing past games that if I have Jivya eat my stash, I reach 6* pretty much immediately. Maybe I'm just a hoarder...

If you have Ice Storm, do you really need anything else? ;)

If you get the message "Zin will soon be exalted with your worship!" (or something like that) after donating a lot of money, that will happen very soon. You can make your way to whereever you want to go and cure your muts halfway along the journey, usually.

A couple of quick comments:

0. Listen to Crate. :-)
1. I believe that is how rMut works, providing some percentage resistance, although I've gotten mutated from glow despite wearing an amulet... Also I usually hate the -Tele property, so I'd consider removing that amulet when you're better.
2. Also Neqoxecs. Your log is quite informative if you search for "mutation".
On that note, it looks like you quaff identified !cure mutation. Now, think about how things would be different if you'd stored your potions until you could use ?identify on that.
3. Looks mostly ok. Haste is useful (and another source of glow). I'd try to get Icestorm hungerless, then maybe boost earth for stronger iron shot and ultimately for shatter, but that's just me.
4. As Icestorm is online, pretty much wherever you want.
5. A very different suggestion is: Ziggurats. (Although that may not be much use right now, as I couldn't see any entrances.) You could probably clear a long way, unless you were unlucky, and my last few were stuffed with lots of !cure mutation.

If you have stasis and sustain abilities, you should be able to manage for now. Your MP is still quite high despite -20%; you have screaming but you're a huge noisemaker with ice storm anyway. Slowness makes you feel like a Naga or Chei worshiper but since you have magical escape options I think it's manageable. I spent from about XL:10ish to when I finally finished my first Zig with Teleportitis and some other mutations. I found a potion of cure mutation in Holy Pan but it didn't solve the relevant ones.

If you're really desperate and don't want to convert religions, you could try scumming for potions of mutation with Fulsome Distillation and hoping for the best with them. Not exactly recommended... I did it with some 30+ potions once and it didn't help my problem.

Yes, but there's no sure thing. When you get the "shudders with the violent release.." message, the game flips a coin to see if your rMut does anything.

Continuing 1. Based on what yogaFLAME said I looked this up and, if I understand the knowledge bots, then rMut normally provides 90% resistance to new mutations, but only 50% resistance to mutations from contamination. I think that matches my experiences quite well.

Honestly, I'd say the only really dangerous mutations you've got are slowness 2 and teleportitis since you should be able to work around the -20% hit to your mana and screaming 2 isn't much louder than using ice storm. If you can find a source of teleport control you might be able to last long enough to find a potion of cure mutation without switching gods. Otherwise, you could try the mutation roulette with Fulsome Distillation like Fungus said.

I changed my religion towards Zin as it had been advised above, but I didn't have enough money to obtain the ability I was longing for immediately. After that I just died not having any reliable escape abilities.

The rMut amulet won't help as much against mutations from glow. What would have helped was a scroll of vulnerability to quickly wipe away some of that glow but this often isn't available on demand as they're so rare. To get by with those mutations, you needed spammable haste and cBlink (while remembering to take off your -TELE amulet each time) but you didn't have these up.

Looking at your log, it looks like you miscast Ice Storm at 1% fail chance? If so, that was bad luck. That doesn't mean that one moment of bad luck should have killed you: I appreciate the desire to rush to ice storm as fast as possible but you could have held off on it until you had at least haste online first.

Another way to pick up yellow/red glow is Zot traps. If you or anyone else in LOS steps on one, you can receive heavy glow. I got red glow off a Zot trap once, read a scroll of vulnerability, and still had red glow afterward. I got pretty badly mutated that time . . .

I'm pretty sure (it may have even been stated in this thread) that mutations from glow are biased toward the bad ones (and the removal of good mutations counts as a bad one). With enough rolls tending toward the bad list, you'll end up that badly mutated...and a bad case of glow will give you a *lot* of rolls.
