I got 5 runes, but not the ones you are thinking of. I think I have an irrational fear of Spider Pit after splatting a lvl 27 VpEn in there a while back. I really don't like Slime either but I felt like that would be difficult as melee and well I didn't want to wreck my equipment. I'm not afraid of Pan any more since really it's just D:Demons and everything that isn't a unique level can be handled with either Haste or cBlink. Or an Executioner's axe that helps too. Cerebov was difficult, but I forgot to bring a spare rF+ ring into Pan and so I took more damage than I needed to with only rF++. Having a flaming weapon also didn't help him go down any faster. It made me think maybe I should have used some of my ?aq on weapon to try for an axe of holy wrath, but would that have been too unreliable? Holy Pan was a blast. I had two orc knights with me at the time who both quickly became warlords and we went on an angel killing spree. Really the only kinda dangerous moments came from holy clouds from ophans or worse pearl dragons or smiting from multiple daevas. I got my first ever PDA here, but I never got it enchanted enough to overtake my FDA.
I finished this game with 5 runes because I didn't know if I had the ability to get more or all, and I didn't really have the urge to find out. Gehenna had its way with me despite 3 separate assaults on Geh:7 and I was sick of getting tormented and hellfired near death by every passing Brimstone Fiend. I used up nearly all of my food stores in my attempt on the obsidian rune, so after calling that off I just went to Zot.
Playing HOPrs is always fun for me. I love some of the fun moments that having an orc band generates, whether it's two clashing forces or having Orbeogh tell you that you are his only friend
Also it's pretty funny to watch a deep elf soldier get demolished in one shot from a thrown club from an orc warlord There always feels like there's something missing though. The "caster" orcs always die to quickly with their sometimes rather silly AI. I do love how the orcs level up and get blessings from Beogh, though. The warlords and knights are useful even lategame to a point, but in general Beogh isn't that useful in extended (except for walking on water 
) One really cool thing from this game, though, was saving a warlord from the Abyss. He must have gotten banished back in Elf and I found him on my Abyss escape from Pan.There were a pleasant number of "firsts" in this game, notably casting in heavy(ish) armour. I generally only used it for buffs like Haste, Phase Shift and Regeneration, but I imagine some offensive spells would fit well in a hybrid strategy. It was my first time casting cBlink on any character. It is a godsend. I found a lot of +Dam artifacts including those undeniably sexy +4 Str+2 Int+4 Dam+6 boots. Man using ?aq on armour is a gamble, but when you win you win big.
It was a fun, if a little unconventional game. And to whoever made that oklob plant Zig vault, isn't that a little much?
