YSVP HoFi of Oka/Zin/TSO with 15 runes

I noticed that a lot of good players use Hill Orcs, so I thought I'd give it a shot. Worked out pretty nicely! This was also my first win using a bardiche, which is amazing once your skill is high enough. A holy bardiche and haste made short work of Antaeus, Asmodeus, and all the others. I was going to use fire dragon armor, but I found pearl dragon armor in the swamp, then Oka gave me crystal plate and I even found gold dragon armor in the dungeon (when it rains, it pours!).

I realized that boots of running, haste, and swiftness all stack, so you can move a square in like .4 turns (if I remember correctly).

this is extremely relevant to my current build. would you mind outlining your god choice path for me? I'm just about to finish vault:5 with Oka, and wondering who to switch to next. A holy bardiche will fit nicely with my 26 polearms skill, so i think i'm in a very similar boat. why zin, then TSO... did you use zin for hell first, then TSO for pan?... did you use crypt to build piety for zin, or save it for TSO? etc, etc, etc??? im a MfGl btw

Edit: followed the link for full dump. looks like you only did zin to cure mutations... is that right? is there special benifit to doing cocytus under zin? remembered that zin wants money, not undead kills, so stupid question about crypt - and answerd by milestones - but makes me wonder why you went straight there and the rest of hell later if all you needed was to pay for some cure mut....?

You go Zin to cleanse yourself of mutations. He's the backup plan for "if you got truly messed up before you found that rMut, pay this guy thousands of gold and he'll cure it for you... but only once". You then immediately switch to TSO without having ever killed anything as you got what you came for. Provided you are rich, Zin piety is the easiest to get: just do some stash management for a while and you'll be at 6* if you paid enough at the altar.

By the way, there is no Zin piety to get from doing Crypt. He only cares for chaotic mob kills, not evil mob kills. TSO is easy mode but it's not unthinkable to go TSO (get holy weapon) -> Zin and then start Abyss/Pan/Hell.

didn't refresh either... my question about cocytus still stands though... is zin the best in hell? because i wouldn't mind TSO for crypt, abyss rune, pan scumming/hopefully no early rune levels i might have to miss out on, and then tomb with rn+++ and angel summons... then back to pan for rest of runes... then zin for slime and hells last... does that sound viable/not-suboptimal?

Why leave Slime that late? Do slime first then switch to Zin and get any mutations cleansed. By the time you're prepping up to do Pan, Slime is easy. Basically if you can do Vaults:end, you can do Slime provided you meet the pre-requisite amulets (rCorr and rMut). You can still do them without those pre-requisite amulets but then you're constrained to specific play styles.

Zin can nullify hell effects. TSO just lets you overpower them if you keep an army around - easy enough provided you can kill torment/hellfire spam fast, which again TSO helps out with if you get close enough to spam cleansing flame. Just stick with TSO for the whole of extended. There's nothing wrong with switching to Zin just for Hells but you're really over-reacting if you take him JUST to avoid hell effects and mutations.

I'm guessing the intention was to leverage Zin's mutation resistance in Slime.

Actually I meant to do Slime before I converted, I just forgot! But as you point out, the mutation resistance was very useful (and at that point I could cast haste, which is similar to finesse). My other mistake was that I wore an amulet of conservation (instead of resist corrosion) so my boots of running got damaged (down to -4).

Here's what happened: As you deduced, I switched to Zin to cure my mutations. I donated a bunch of gold, but my piety wasn't high enough so I went into the Abyss to kill chaotic monsters (and find the rune). Then I realized I had skipped Slime, so I did that. Then I thought I should do a hell branch to take advantage of Zin's protection. At that point my bardiche was flaming, so I did Cocytus (since Antaeus and ice fiends are susceptible to fire). Unfortunately I couldn't kill Antaeus, but I did grab the rune. I didn't feel strong, so I switched to TSO, cleared the crypt to build piety, and blessed my bardiche (which was +8 at this point). Then I cleared Pan, Dis, Tartar Sauce, and I went back to Cocytus to kill Antaeus (which was easy at this point). Then I almost died on the first floor of the Tomb (there were an amazing number of mummies gathered together on the first floor).

I always do Tomb last since I lose so much HP to rot, but I just learned that Elyvilon can cure rot (thank you luis21) so maybe next time I'll do the Tomb earlier and convert (since there's so much good loot in there).

Hmmmm.... more food for thought. I need loot bad!! Oka thinks my +6 MDA needs replacing, so he pretty exclusively gifts me randart chainmails now. So frustrating. I might go straight to tomb after maxing TSO piety. Hopefully he can get me through tomb super early, and then I'll switch to zin for hells, pan, and slime. Does recall work on summoned angels? thinking of memorizing that. Just did a bunch of reading on TSO and zin, and it looks like TSO is the best choice for tomb and pan. I think I'll do that and then slime (wouldn't mind angels next to the royal jelly while i spam cleansing flame, but don't want to have a bunch of bad muts before pan/changing to zin), and then zin last for hell. A quick Ely switch if tomb rots me bad won't matter eaither. I'm excited about having so many different gods, yet only getting divine wrath from 1. I guess I'll finish D:21-27 first to see if Oka can get it together with some decent gifts.
