You have supernaturally acute eyesight.
You are a herbivore.
You cover ground extremely quickly.

You occasionally shout uncontrollably.

I'm at the point where my decks are flowing like water, although I've run out of my nice offensive decks (*sigh* I think I need to just give up on using decks of escape in a productive fashion, they're just so situational that I find myself just building stacks of them.)

I've gotten a few nice-ish short blades, the vampiric dagger's been with me from floor 2 (*so* nice) and I've recently acquired the artifact dagger, which except for the rF- is pretty nice for the point in the game where I am now. I hope one day to stumble across a quickblade, but I also don't expect it.

The problem that I'm having now is I'm starting to feel like my skill focus is too broad, and I am worried that I'm not having the power to handle tougher fights. The reason I've burned through my decks of destruction and summoning is that my lair entrace was at the lowest possible dungeon level (13) and I've been hitting quite a few packs of Death yaks, and Elephants, and quite a number of Hydras as well, All of whom are just a bit too strong for me to take on with just my dagger, and are too resistant for me to confuse consistently with spells.

In any case,
I'm about to back out of the lair and go do some other bits of the dungeon for a little while, the question I have is what's a good thing to focus on for a while to better enable me to handle the tougher fights without having to resort to a legendary deck of destruction for *every* fight. as that's a quick way to run myself out of decks.

Re: CIP: SpGl Of Nemlex Where to go from here?

Uh... oh right, you started as a Gl. That would explain the bad Int, which is troublesome: you're going to struggle to get enough spellpower to really play a stabber. Your spellpower on petrify and confuse are abysmally low.

I can only think to go into long blades and find a good scimitar (drop the buckler). This is really suboptimal, but a good short blade weapon would have venom or elec brands (or pain/distortion but those are more exotic).

Re: CIP: SpGl Of Nemlex Where to go from here?

If you want to stab things get more hexes. You have bad spellpower right now on mass confusion/confusion, which are your primary means of enabling stabs right now. Then hope to find invisibility spell (it's reasonably common).

With chilly death and a +9 ring of slaying you really have pretty good melee though. Enchant your cap if you can, enchant a cloak if you find one, and then you'll have 5 more AC and that's much better for meleeing things too. Anything that doesn't have ranged attacks can't really kill you since you're a spriggan so you can just walk away if melee goes badly.

Also don't run into anything with fireball because you will die in one fireball!

Re: CIP: SpGl Of Nemlex: First attempt at 15 runes...

So far I've only found one scroll of enchant armor, I am planning on putting that on dragon hide to make dragon armor (If I find more scrolls , or a nice artifact robe I'll definitely use them/it on my cap) Since Orc is up at D:6 I may go back and do the first few levels of Orc, the last one may or may not be out of my depth (depending on what kind of ending it has) I do have a steam and mottled hide, and am debating between using one of those, and holding off until I have something a little better (I was thinking swamp dragon hide would be optimum, something heaver might be too much EV penalty to cast in, although fire dragon armour would dovetail with the chilly death nicely, but I don't think I want to hold out that long, nor do I really want to fight a fire dragon while I have rF-, although I could just switch weapons for that fight, good thing weapons are quick to swap in combat) I may just decide that the Mottled armor is the way to go, although rSticky is almost the silliest resistance one could ask for (Although 1 less AC for 0 ev penalty instead of 1 is tempting too).

I left lair after clearing Lair:5 and starting going down in the main dungeon again, D:14 produced 3 decks of destruction (1 legendary) and 2 of summoning, so I think I'm Ok again for the short term. I had 4 stacked and 4 unstacked decks of escape so I just burned up the unstacked escape decks to get more piety (which in turn gave me the above listed decks once I'd killed/sacrificed everything on D:14.

Giants are currently the only thing that scares me that I encounter melee-wise. But that 's what I have all the axes of returning for, with a 7 throwing and a +9 slaying ring, they do enough damage for me to kite things that don't move fast, Centaurs/Centaur warriors are still a pain if I stumble across them in a position I can't easily retreat around a corner, reflect missiles works well, but not well enough to make them non-dangerous, particularly if I don't have it up when they spring into my LoS (They regularly get me below half hit points)

I'm expecting things to get too hard around D:17ish, which is when I'll turn around and try Orc. Hm, do you think it's worth it to get the additional AC from the Mottled/Steam Dragon armor now?

I've gotten a nice artifact ring with +4 int which has helped a little with the low INT problem, I went ahead and enchanted the mottled dragon armor (I walked downstairs to D:15 and there were three sleeping Mottled dragons surrounding the group of all three upstaircases. I figured "well heck, I've been waffling on this whole dragon armor thing to start with, if this isn't a sign, I don't know what is" I went back to my stash, enchanted the dragon armor, and then killed all three without them breathing on me once, go figure :) Anyway, 6 AC is twice as good as 3 so I'm not unhappy with my choice :)

And I've found myself with a ring of invisibility, which will help in appropriate situations as well.

I have also decided I am at the point where I can't run myself out of decks, I seem to be getting gifts of new decks faster than I can use the decks I have, and now they're just taking over my inventory slots, I'm not quite sure what is the appropriate response to that ;) I've started just spamming my low-level summon decks before I get into anything vaguely interesting combat wise, just for the hilarity of it.

I know at some point I'm gonna have to find some rF, that's my major concern for the later parts of this game, but I always seem to stumble upon it so randomly I just don't have a *plan* for how to get it yet...

Now what disappoints me here is that shuffle grabbed the extra points of Int from my dex rather than my str, but I can't really argue with the results *too* much.

I'm not going to pull that focus card until sometime later, if at all, but what I'm really after now is *equipment* I should probably pop up and do orc, or perhaps finish the lair, at very least drop off some of these extra decks and add to the 10 or so I have sitting around in my stash.

I think this is going well for as early as it is:

Re: CIP: SpGl Of Nemlex Where to go from here?

I really like the fact that you're playing a Spriggan Gladiator. :D I'm a big fan of anyone that makes excellent use of "non-optimized builds", for example most players would go Enchanter or Assassin for Spriggans but you're all like "wuteva ah do wut ah want!" and that is awesome.

The Shuffle gambit was serious badassery by the way. Props on making it work! With your extra STR, you might be able to upgrade to even better armor later on, such as Swamp or Fire Dragon Armor, though for now you're definitely good. Mottled makes you immune to napalm but doesn't offer outright fire res. so definitely do something about that point of fire weakness ASAP. If it were me I wouldn't even be walking around with it like that; you never know when a simple enemy like an Orc with a fire branded weapon might completely ruin your day out of effing nowhere.

Re: CIP: SpGl Of Nemlex Where to go from here?

Yeah, i'm really paranoid about letting things get up close to me without checking what they're using, regular orcs all die in one hit but that doesn't mean I won't see something I would normally take for granted. I just found a ring {rPois, rF+, rN+, Str+5, Int+1} Which I think needs to replace the ring {rC+, Str+5, Int+4, Acc+5} while I'll be sad to see those 3 points of Int go away, the rF+ almost makes it mandatory, and the rN+ is a nice thing to make up the difference.

Re: CIP: SpGl Of Nemlex Where to go from here?

I think that is a good move to replace the ring. You're doing great without having to cast spells, so you can take your time raising your INT through leveling up and other means, and in the meantime cover more vital weak spots.

You'll be thanking your rPois later when you bump into Aizul and he starts flinging Poison Arrow; I'd much rather settle for 20 damage per hit instead of over 50. @_@

Re: CIP: SpGl Of Nemlex Where to go from here?

Well, I already have rPoison on my dagger, so the ring's a duplicate, and to the best of my knowledge duplicate rPoison's don't really do anything additional.

I'm actually now done with Orc and Lair and have moved on to Snake Pit, I've got both rings with me, because Naga Warriors have just enough HD that confuse doesn't stick often unless I have that extra 3 points of int (and swapping rings is pretty minimal)

It's very interesting, I feel like I'm this weird stab/summon/conjurer mix where which type of character I am depends on the resources I happen to have available at the moment.

I'm trying to avoid using mass confusion and invisibility, mainly because of hunger issues (It's still ##### for a single cast of either Bleh) but with the higher int ring everything else is hungerless.

I still feel like I should *focus* on something, but because of the whole shifting paradigm thing, I keep waffling on what that should be, but it's working for now....

You don't need stasis to block tele other.

You probably don't want to walk around with rF- ... you're going to get fireballed by a fire giant at some point and it might just outright kill you if you have rF- when it happens.

Anyway you can stop training skills altogether and still win easily at this point so do whatever you like. You should really learn at least apportation though, hopefully you have that available.

I must say I am extremely disappointed with the game's inability to kill you despite you running around with rF- for ages. Where's 151 damage Xtahua when we need him?

Re: CIP: SpGl Of Nemlex Where to go from here?

Well, hopefully Xtahua is not hiding in the Lair or in Orc, the deepest I had been with rF- is D:17, Lair:5 and Orc:2 Haven't visited any branches with any horrifying fire things, or even any high-level spellcasters. (Did encounter a single Orc sorcerer, he was unscary)

I did pull a "Wrath" card once (Got Oka's Wrath) which included a Fire Giant, who might have messed me up, had he not been confused and surrounded with summoned killer bees, Manticores, and a Skeleton Dragon.

That's as scary as it's gotten, at least fire-damage wise.

Re: CIP: SpGl Of Nemlex Where to go from here?

Oh, and no Apportation yet,

I don't keep the non rF+ ring on I just have it in my inventory for when I need the int bump (One of the nicest things about spriggans is the ability to choose your battleground most of the time, supa-fast run away power lets me easily back off and re-equip as needed, often on a different floor :)

Stasis is certainly not the only way to resist unwelcome Teleports, but it is a quick and dirty way when it's on a quick-swapping amulet, particularly when it's an amulet that gives me more dex and +4 slaying damage, I think it's worth keeping the inventory slot for, as a swap for my conservation amulet (The only other amulet I have seen so far :) While I probably won't get zapped, "extrordinarily resistant" isn't 100% protection, I've been hexed/cursed/banished/teleported with that level of resistance in the past :)

Innate Abilities, Weirdness & Mutations

You are tiny and cannot use many weapons and most armour.
You have supernaturally acute eyesight.
You are a herbivore.
You cover ground extremely quickly.*
You need consume almost no food.
You are somewhat resistant to further mutation.
Your muscles are strong (Str +1).

So the question *now* is What should I start enchanting up, weapon-wise

Choice A: +0 +2 Elven dagger of Speed
Choice B: +2 +0 Quick Blade of distortion
Choice C: Neither, wait for something better to come along (After all my artifact dagger is nothing to sneeze at.)

Also my current supply of scrolls is: 3 EW 1,1 EW 2, and 1 EW 3, so I wouldn't be replacing my artifact dagger any time soon.

I currently average about 40% stab, 30% blast with range spells (destruction cards), 10% summon things (cards), and 20% Non-Stabby Melee.

Re: CIP: SpGl Of Nemlex Where to go from here?

Since you're a Spriggan, I'd vote for qblade of distortion to help you ninja better. Freeze is not a good brand on a weak weapon like a dagger, though certainly it'll help with the initial stab damage.

No I did mean freeze, though speed is also a bad brand for a weak weapon like a dagger. Pain, distortion and elec are the good brands for a dagger.

Re: CIP: SpGl Of Nemlex Where to go from here?

Um, freezing is still one of the better dagger brands, I wouldn't complain about it. A +7 dagger with a +9 ring of slaying really does quite a bit of damage per aut against most enemies....

Re: CIP: SpGl Of Nemlex Where to go from here?

Agreed on +7 freezing dagger being pretty darn nifty, And better for stabbing than the distortion quickblade (both because it's a dagger, and because freezing is just better than distortion for stabbing)

The reason I'm considering switching is because really most of the time, if I'm in melee with something I really just want it to *go away* and distortion does that pretty effectively, even if I don't score a kill, and quickblades can get down to a 3 delay without haste, but maybe it's not worth it.

  Snake (5/5) Lair:5        Slime (0/6) Lair:7       Vaults (0/8) D:19

I have the ability to ditch my +3 Mottled Dragon armor {+4 Str, +2 Dex} for +6 Fire dragon armor (Once all my EA scrolls are used up on it), doing so would let me switch back to my other artifact ring with the better stat +'s but no rF, going from:

Str:23, Int:26, Dex:14, AC: 17, Ev: 30, Sh: 18, rC++, rN+, rPois
to
Str:19, Int: 29, Dex:12, AC: 23, Ev: 28, Sh: 18, rF+, rC++, rPois, +4 Accuracy, Some spellcasting penalties (can be negated by training some armor)

So is it worth it to swap to the heavier armor, gaining rF+ but losing rN+, gaining 3 Int, losing 4 str, and 2 dex, the nice thing is that those 3 int points are the points that put me up to hungerlessly casting level 6 spells, and if I had Haste, I'd probably damn the torpedoes and go full flurry of mad spriggan rage on mobs, but the game has yet to generate a spellbook with haste for my spell-enhanced destructive dagger-mad stabby spriggan, so I'm left without a clear unambiguous choice :)

I can also switch cloaks, I have a +0 cloak of starlight {rC+, rElec, Ev+4, Stlth--}, which I could wear instead of my +2 cloak, if this was a bruiser I'd put it on without batting an eyelash, but losing 2 AC *and* getting Stlth-- (reducing me from extraordinarily stealth to merely extremely stealthy) makes me question whether the plusses outweigh the minuses for a stabber/spellcaster.

In reference to whomever mentioned it earlier:

_Xtahua claws you. Xtahua closely misses you.
You slash Xtahua! You freeze Xtahua!
_You kill Xtahua!
You see here the dragon corpse of Xtahua.
You offer a prayer to Nemelex Xobeh.
The dragon corpse of Xtahua glows slightly and disappears.
_Nemelex Xobeh is exalted by your worship.

Turns out he was in Vaults:4 all along, with his buddies Boris and Mennas (Boris went down relatively easily, once I backed off healed and hasted, he OOD's me before I could haste when I walked around a corner, Mennas is... a giant pain, at least a hasted spriggan can run from him and Nemelex's cards still work at full power (yay for stacked decks of escape!), although I would need more decks of destruction and summoning than I currently have to actually kill him.)

Why an Angel is hanging out with a Lich and an Evil fire dragon is beyond me.

I wonder what other lovelies the vault has in store for me :)

I'm a lousy Nemelexite, so help me out here...

Would it have been better for you to butcher Xtahua's corpse in the hope of getting a fire dragon hide to sacrifice? (Or possibly to turn into fire dragon armour, if you wanted to go that route?)
You fall off the wall. You have a feeling of ineptitude.

Re: CIP: SpGl Of Nemlex Where to go from here?

I was wearing +8 fire dragon armor at the time, seemed a bit redundant :)

And sacrificing armor will give me more decks of escape, of which I have more than I need presently.

By choosing what sort of things I sacrifice (And turning unwanted categories off in ^!) I can get more decks of the sorts I use the most (Destruction/Summoning) and get fewer of the ones I need less of (Escape) and get very few of the sorts I don't want (Dungeon) All of the decks have a use, but killing enemies is the thing I spend the most time doing.

I would probably want more escape decks if I wasn't playing a spriggin, as escape has some speed cards that are more useful for races that can actually get a movement bonus. As is, I only use escape decks in emergencies, and I try to avoid having too many emergencies :)

Re: CIP: SpGl Of Nemlex Where to go from here?

To go back to the weapon question, the dagger is pretty good, but I seriously would consider switching to the quickblade (by which I mean that I would instantly do it). You don't need much exp anymore (even though you will get a lot from stabbing), you need runes and the orb. If we are only talking about getting enemies out of the way, it is much better if you can enchant it (your ring does this by +9 so whatever). You have a rC+ ring, so that FDA shouldn't be much of a problem either.

Probably if you get a hide it has a higher value, yes, but like Siegurt says that doesn't necessarily make it better.

Re: CIP: SpGl Of Nemlex Where to go from here?

Hmm, well, I don't yet have enough scrolls yet to enchant it to +9, I could get it to about +7, +6 right now.

It's probably ultimately worth it, but I need to get some more enchant scrolls before i really *want* to make the switch. Unfortunately I do need more exp, I recently got hit with wild magic mutation, which has lowered my percentage casting for some of my spells so I need to bump several of my skills up to get things like Controlled Blink to be reliable again.

I also still use some rods, I need some more spellcasting skills before I can ditch them entirely.

Also I haven't gotten the abyssal rune, which means anything I banish now I might just have to fight later.

Well, *that* sucks.

You hit Geryon.
Geryon is devoured by a tear in reality.

I wish I had decided to do the vestibule before getting the abyssal rune,*sigh*

This trip through the abyss really sucked, passed three exits, found the rune in like 4K turns, not super long, but then I spent another 5K turns looking for the next exit. I *hate* the abyss, and now I have to go back *sigh*

Ok, finding him and killing him (the second time, I foolishly used my *weapon* to try to kill him the first time, as the decks of destruction weren't doing the damage needed, teleported him away and took another 1000 turns to find him again, used my only deck of summoning to kill him, fortunately that was enough power)

Now let's see how long it takes to find my way out again.

Now I'm debating where to go next, I've got four hells and pandemonium to choose from (Well, and Tombs, but with only rN+ that sounds less than fun)

I've got a fair number of equipment choices, but none that *really* give me the resistances I need (I put everything useful equipment-wise in my inventory before this snapshot) , so I'm thinking I might do Pan, but since I've never done either I'm looking for feedback as to how I should proceed.

I *could* use Focus to push a couple more points into Int, but that would be at the expense of my dex, which is would reduce my evasion, which I'm not terribly happy with the idea of doing. However it *would* give me enough int to get Summon Dragon online with no wizardry ring pretty soon (28% fail as-is), and allow me to cast it hungerlessly as well (40 Int+25 Spellcasting) With my evo and CBoE I should be able to use swarms of dragons to pummel most things into oblivion.

However that would cost me 3 points of Dex, which isn't something I relish the idea of doing (I wish Focus let me pick the stat I could pull stats from)

So do I pull the stat points over? Do I do Pan or a Hell branch next?

Also I have a really large number of mutations, including mutation resistance (Helix is actually pretty darn sweet at high power levels)

203644 | Pan | Noticed Gloorx Vloq
203991 | Pan | Killed Gloorx Vloq
204026 | Pan | Got a dark rune of Zot

A little later I miscast summon dragons while summoning a new pack of dragons to jump to the next world, was cast into the abyss:
205156 | Pan | Cast into the Abyss (miscasting Summon Dragon)
Then was pleasantly surprised when my banishment resulted in my return to the same Pan level! (Thought banishment meant that Pan level was gone!)
207494 | Pan | Escaped the Abyss.
Got simultaneously depleted, and full of junk in my inventory that I wanted to drop off in my stash, decided to make an exit:
208250 | Pan | Took an exit into the Abyss.
208598 | D:24 | Escaped the Abyss.
Came back ready and boy-howdy it's a good thing I was:
209366 | Pan | Entered the realm of Mnoleg.
209366 | Pan | Entered Pandemonium

Entered Pan directly into Mnoleg's realm!

Did a little dance with him for which I decided I was not adequately prepared, blink-fled away healed up, summoned a pack of dragons went back to beat him up, only he was nowhere to be found! I guess he was looking for me elsewhere, stole his unguarded rune then took off.

210668 | Pan | Got a glowing rune of Zot

A while later found the demonic rune:

212729 | Pan | Got a demonic rune of Zot

And THANK GOODNESS for the rune warning, stupid lord's vault was hidden and my 10 T&D didn't spot it until I went back and looked.

Lom Lobon Looked like he would've been uncomfortable to stand close to, fortunately 10 dragons (several hasted) took him down easily, while I looked on from afar and killed his minions.
214581 | Pan | Noticed Lom Lobon
214595 | Pan | Killed Lom Lobon
214633 | Pan | Got a magical rune of Zot

And I'm SO glad I adpoted the "summon a pack of dragons to leave with" as my general rule, because I went directly from Lom Lobon to:

214928 | Pan | Entered the realm of Cerebov.
214928 | Pan | Noticed Cerebov
214930 | Pan | Banished Cerebov

Appearing *on top of* Cerebov AND going directly from one Rune level to another! Good thing I brought a pack of summoned dragons with me, two hits and poof he was banished (lucky me because hellfire is *NOT* fun at 110 Max hp)

Blinked away from the assorted demon-fire flinging chatter to let my dragons handle what they could, healed up some and raided his vaults (nothing too fantastic, a nice amulet but none of the resistances I'm still missing *shrug*)

So now I'm down to:

Hell, Tomb

Neither of which I have adequate resistances for. I'm closest to fire resistance-heavy, but I can't simultaneously have the fire resistance and summon dragon online (Fire dragon armor is too high for my current armor skill)

So do I keep Pan scumming hoping for some jewelry, or do I tackle hell at this point?

What do y'all think?

This pretty much, the game didn't have any room for grinding until this point so if you succumb to the temptation to scum, then you suddenly feel something is very wrong. That disconcertedness (and ensuing boredom) will get you killed. If you even got this far into extended, then you can do Hell and Tomb. Heck, I have a bad habit of charging into the hells first and only consider Pan last. I have a 9-rune YAVP somewhere where I was comfortable doing Hell with no resists but chickened out on Pan as I hadn't mastered the art of ninja-stealing Pan runes.

Re: CIP: SpGl Of Nemlex: Now YASD

Well, that was an un-fun splat, made it through two hells, with no sweat, clouds of summoned demons work wonders, and with swapping my equip around I could cast it hungerlessly.

I had switched to Zin, because mutations were bad, and all I had left was Hell+Tombs, and Nemlex's cards didn't do anything worthwhile any more (No more corpses to get summoning decks, and destruction decks don't do much damage to things with lots of poison and elemental resistances).

So hell was a breeze... Until I was sitting outside the entrance to the Dis Boss, and was getting ready to summon another cloud of dragons to accompany and was swapping around equipment... and wham I get hit with damnation, banished to the abyss, which would typically be no big deal, except It dropped me right next to a previously-banished Asmodeus, with no body armor. Um, Right, C-blink away (ish)!!! 22 hps left and I can't seem to find a clearing that's not full of banished 1's who are all pissed at me, finally I find a clear spot, heal some, and put on my body armor. While I'm doing so Cerebov (Also banished) and Asmodeus pop up on either side at the same time and take me down to 50% hit points in one shot, I try to blink away and the Abyss force denies me, another double hellfire and I'm splatted.

*sigh*

That is the most epic Divine Retribution death I have ever read.

Incidentally, I personally would have swapped over from Destruction/Summoning to Defence/Dungeons/Wonders with the aim of farming Zigs and Baileys. But then, first I would have made sure I didn't need to rely on decks of destruction to kill my enemies by lategame. I do appreciate the desire to go Zin to get rid of mutations though.

Re: CIP: SpGl Of Nemlex: Now YASD

Nemelex doesn't drop Decks of Defense, he drops Decks of Escape, which aren't very useful when you can cast cBlink, cTP, and have multiple wands of teleport sitting around, and don't really have any specific desire to turn into a bat, and can't be made to move any faster on account of being a spriggan. I usually had a stacked blink as an emergency escape sitting on a couple of decks, but I don't think I actually used any of them ever.

Wonders had ceased to be useful for me, XP cards were giving me < .2/skill level (Everything was just about as high skill-wise as I could possibly want it) and I didn't really need to branch into anything. Alchemy is an expensive Heal pot in deck form (costs a full inventory slot + cash to use) Shuffle and Focus were actively bad for me and Helix was what got me wanting to move away from Nemelex to Zin :)

Dungeons I've never had good luck with, the only non-horrible card (for spriggans, water is nice for merfolk/octofolk) is trowel, And I'd gone through about 40 of those already, and gotten 1 bazaar (With nothing notable in it) and 1 baley (From which i did get one worthwhile swap artifact) all the rest were altars and statues.

I guess if I'd wanted to make a new Temple level in hell that might have been useful, but not really anything good for finishing the game. I might have gotten something decent out of dungeon decks if I'd spent a lot more time on it, but by the time I switched I was just ready for "hell tomb and out" Doing a Zig wasn't in the plans.

Zin was actually fantastic given the strategy I was employing in hell, build up a back of dragons, kick down the door and recite to mess up all the demons while my dragons ate 'em all, and Vitalization gave me both food and enough of an Int bump that I could cast Summon Dragon with no food costs and swap back and forth a ring of SustAb and wear an amulet of clarity with my CBoE, All the while Zin protecting me from hell effects.

Zig is Nemelex's expensive and long-winded way to get rid of mutations. Something feels off that Trowel cards gave you that many altars and statues compared to portals but maybe things have changed since my Nemelex days long ago - I assume you were using nothing but legendary decks of dungeon for this spam.

A deck of wonders is basically a piety sink - always cheat on it because you don't want to get the bad cards.

Deck of escape has the Tomb card. For that alone I'd have been investing in it. Again though, I'd have cheated to prepare those cards in advance.

Then there's the decks that Nemelex never gifts but you can still use Nemelex cheats on. Notably, the Elixir card.

Still, seems like you had a solid plan with Zin so it's just personal preference at this point.
