CiP -> YASD TeMo of Lungou via corrupted Temple
Game starts, I decide to focus-train Unarmed Combat and normal-train Throwing (up to 3.0 levels) before anything else. I grab some Rocks and sweep D:1 and D:2 with not even remotely any problems-- everything is dying in one or two hits, and the Adders that try to run away get finished off with a couple of rocks. So far so good. D:1 also had a Potion of Gain Strength just sitting around, which is always nice, and D:3 had a Ring of Regeneration which is very nice. D:3 surprises me though with a horde of Orcs and two Wizards, I almost die trying to escape and I use up both teleport scrolls I had on me, rested up and came back (carefully) to trounce them. Success. Leveling up fast. Good stuff.
So on I go, to D:4, and right away I find the Temple. I go inside, hoping to get Yred right off the bat. Even better, I get a corrupted Temple. As it is very rare for me to get a corrupted temple before switching to a deity, gleefully I enlist in Lungou's services, having no idea what to expect because I have never gotten far as an Abyssal Knight before. I notice I'm already carrying a ton of permafood-- 10 breads and 3 meats, and my status is Very Hungry, so I eat two of my meats to become Engorged and spend the next two dungeon levels sacrificing every possible corpse I could instead of having to cut some up (Ring of Regeneration speeds up metabolism so I would have had to cut up more than usual).
The game is throwing the first dangerous kinds of foes at me, such as groups of Orcs guarded by 2 or 3 Priests, as well as Centaurs and Jellies, in the D:4 to D:6 range as expected. Somewhere along the way I pick up six Silver Javelins and decide to raise Throwing up to 6.0 along with Unarmed Combat and now Dodging up to 10.0. A Ring of Poison Resistance was also a nice find, but when I discovered a Ring of Invisibility, I swapped it in for my rPois, since Regeneration was more than enough to heal off any poison damage I'd suffer (unless I had enough layers of poison, such as a Blowgun Kobold hitting me several times or a Redback attack).
I also got Lungou's ability Banish, and got into several engagements where using it helped a LOT. :) Orc Warriors? Gnoll Commanders? Electric Eels? The lone Yak I found roaming D:6? LOL ABYSS'D HAVE FUN :lol: There was an area at some point too where I found a small, square building surrounded in shallow water, and when I opened the door the room was FILLED with Worms and Swamp Worms. I opted to use Corrupt the moment they all woke up, got the heck out, went upstairs to rest and wait out all the creatures I gated in, and when I got back every single Worm had died and I got to sacrifice every corpse with no problems. ^^ Felt amazing.
The next couple of dungeon levels were terrifying and there were LOTS of times I almost died. Yellow Wasps and Killer Bee swarms were probably the worst of them, as well as when I found the Lair entrance but couldn't get there due to Harold and about three entire Yak mobs all combined into one surrounding and nearly killing me-- Bend Space literally saved my life, and I probably would have had an easier time banishing Harold than luring him into a safe spot and killing him 1 on 1, but I wanted him gone, and thanks to my Ring of Invisibility I dodged his extremely powerful Fire Bolt attack enough times in a row to secure the kill without having to run away a third time. In the same area an Unseen Horror (me with no SInv) almost tore me apart, and I went through ALL my Healing potions just to survive and get away in time. He's still down there. x_x If I could corner the thing I'd just banish it, but I was in a 2-tile wide spot and there were other groups of foes around too. I also killed Joseph (with far, far less problems than Harold, due to me going Invisible and getting in melee range with a surprise attack), and got his Quarterstaff of Protection, which I carried with me but did not choose to switch to yet.
After I killed the remainder of the Yaks, a little bit at a time with careful stair-dancing and running away to heal, I headed into the finally-unguarded Lair to set my stash up, and that's where I am now. I had a bunch of un-ID'd Rings which I hadn't had time to sort through, and though most of them still remain ambiguous after equip-IDing them, one was a +6 Ring of Dexterity. I took off Regeneration to put on Dexterity, kept Invisibility on, and my Lair run will be with all three rings handy, in case I need to switch. (Actually I'll probably take off Invis and put on Regen, and switch off Regen back to Invis if I decide I want to go invisible.)
When I get back to this game I think I'll also arm myself with my Quarterstaff of Protection, and train up Staves. Since I have claws, talons and a beak with which to perform extra melee attacks each turn that are stronger than the Quarterstaff, I'd rather take the slight attack speed penalty along with the +5 AC, and save up a Scroll of Acquirement for later hoping I get an excellent Latajang (or take one off Agnes if she spawns and has a really good one) once Staves are high. I can put the Distortion Brand on a weapon one time this game via Lungou, right? That'll go good on a Latajang, I'm thinking.
Oh and I have a Bow of Frost as well, but it's only +0+1 and I have no enchantment scrolls. I'm training up Bow skills hoping I find a better one (perhaps Nessos won't disappoint me), but then again I forgot about the Distortion brand for later and how I won't be able to switch weapons on the fly, so maybe I won't keep raising it up anymore, now that I think about it. I'm not used to playing Lungou, you see. ^^
