The game handed you the option of starting out as an abyssal knight with the ie book and you decided to kill the character instead. The main reason people refuse to join lucy at early xl is because of god wrath but you didn't have a god. Any particular reason why you passed up the altar?

Probably because the benefits of worshiping Lugonu are not clear to some players.

In my opinion, the benefits of joining a religion should be clearly spelled on on examination of or prayer at the altar.

It is also entirely possible that the abomination cut him off from the altar.

No, I was rather miffed at being unable to join okawaru so I ignored the altar. Also, farming up that first star of piety in the abyss as level 3 or whatever might have been a pain anyhow. I suppose next time I'm abyssed without a god I'll consider it.

Lugonu gives you more piety when you join than other gods: you will be able to use Escape the Abyss immediately.

Isn't this exactly what happens when you pray at an altar now? The religion descriptions are generally pretty well-written. If they're missing something, file a bug for it.
