Alright, I'm at that point where I want to stop spamming 3-5 runers, so I'm going to go for extended with this MiBe.

First off, I'm wearing a CPM, is it worth downgrading to a platemail and going for haste? I'll miss my 50AC, but I hear haste is quite the spell. Obviously this leads to...

Secondly, should I abandon Trog for the endgame? I plan on finishing up all the non-hell/pan branches with Trog, since I REALLY don't want to switch weapons. I'm currently using a +3 +5 Randart Executioner Axe (Vamp, rF++, Stealth++), so I'll definitely need to junk it if I go with TSO. I have a non-artifact executioner axe, quite a few scrolls of enchant weapon, and I left Crypt open to farm piety. I'd then override the brand with TSO's holy branding and use that for extended. Does this sound like a good idea?

Oh, and I have boots of lev, a lot of food, and a couple -hunger items. Do I need to know anything about waiting out trog's wrath this way?

Last, should I ignore dodging? I'd guess CPM would make it a waste of XP, but I'm not so sure.

Nothing but extended, Slime, and Crypt left now. I'm still unsure as to whether to switch or not, because the only thing giving me trouble is torment (at least, so far).

Also, I was prepared for some extreme fighting in the Hall of Blades. Turns out Hall is relatively easy. Who knew? It's relatively pointless to go into though, since there's nothing but weapons and by the time you venture in there, you have your weapon. I can see being abyss'd being annoying, though.

Last, another question:

GDA w/Max Enchantment vs +9 CPA randart? I've got a hide and for some reason there was 10+ enchant armor scrolls in Swamp alone >->

In a vacuum, the GDA. With your +0 gauntlets/boots and +1 hat I'm a bit inclined towards keeping the CPA and using your scrolls on those. It's around 36 AC from +12 GDA and 37 from +9 CPA with your armour skill, I think.

Here are my favourite Trog strats:
1) What you said, except with lava and not water. Not always possible, since you don't always have lava outside of Abyss/Gehenna.
2) Control Teleport + teletrap -> teleport whenever dudes appear.

Also, Trog can burn you and destroy your scrolls. So put on conservation amulet.

I ended up making a little corner cubby hole in the walll with a wand of disintegration. A large lake of water or lava never generated, unfortunately. Everything worked smoothly, actually, which was nice. Abandoned trog, sat in my hole and smacked whatever appeared, got ***** in Crypt, went to pan and got 4 runes, then got to Cerebov.

Mrrf. I died, too bad. He was in the center of a lava lake, so I cleared out around it, evoked lev, and put on all my buffs (haste might agility) and run for him. He nuked me pretty hard, by the time I decided I wasn't going to kill him, I was literally toast.

Sucks, because I think I would of been able to kill him if cTele spawned this game. Beats having to rush across the lava. Cerebov was by far the most dangerous Panlord from what I saw. Fire Storm is insane. Next time I meet him without spells, I'm going to take it even slower and clear everything else before tackling him, however I can do that. I got cocky because of how easy Lom Lobon/Gloorx Vloq/Mnoleg were and the knowledge bots telling me Gloorx is arguably the hardest :lol:

Gloorx being the hardest isn't quite so simple. Gloorx is most likely to kill you if you employ decent tactics in every fight. Cerebov is the hardest to actually kill.

As a general rule, never ever do this. The safest way to engage is to get a monster's attention, duck behind a wall, spam buffs and summons, then stomp the dude's head in when he comes around the corner. By running at cerebov from across the room, you both gave time for your buffs to wear off, and for him to drop firestorms and summon demons. This would kill even the strongest crawl characters, and yours was pretty strong.

iirc each pan floor is guaranteed 1 named lord, typically in a (rune) vault or guarding a pan exit.

also, if you want to avoid so much rot, get angels to do most/all the killing in tomb. you won't lose any piety if you carefully manage a small squad of A's.

That rot was mostly my fault for not noticing Trog rot me. Need to keep an eye on that, thanks for reminding me.

I couldnt get him to come to me, Cerebov doesn't fly and he was behind a ring of lava, so I had to either tele to him or run across to him, and if I ran to him I had to be in his LoS every step of the way. Without ctele, I figured I should run at him with haste. This was a bad idea, still. Unless of course there was a way onto the island in the lava lake that I didn't see, which is very possible!'

I made a lot of mistakes, still. Need to work on slowing down, especially for pan lords.

As for named pan lords, I meant the non-random ones, I.E Gloorx, Cerebov, etc. "Named" was the wrong word, sorry
