YASD - KoBe became bacon

EDIT: Hubris is my greatest weakness. Slamming through the deepish dungeon, run into Kirke, no problems right? Except now I'm a pig, and I didn't realize I could still summon my brothers in arms until it was too late and I was surrounded by pigs and ugly/very ugly things.

This game makes me feel so stupid.

So here's my KoBe - I've had some great drops this round, and things are clicking along nicely.

My question: which of those blades is better, the +7 +7 quickblade or the +5 +3 sabre of speed? If I'm not totally mistaken they'd both have a delay of 30%, right? My gut feeling is that I should stick with the sabre (awesome drop from Eustachio btw). And that sabre of cold I figured I'd keep around in case I ran into any fiery beasties, though maybe one of the others would still be superior even in that case, not sure what difference I'd be looking at with 30% mindelay vs. attacking an elemental weakness.

Re: CIP - KoBe (and a quick question on weapon choice)

Thanks. Why?

edit: not accounting for the bonus as I'll probably drop a bunch of ?enchants on whichever I keep.

Okay, that makes sense. Thank you for the additional explanation.

I notice that you have not trained stealth and stabbing which is a route you should consider. My first win as a reference: viewtopic.php?f=12&t=2718&p=32271#p32271

Re: YASD - KoBe became bacon

When I tried a SpBe with stealth/stabbing, my gut analysis of the build was "Ok, so I can sometimes sneak up and insta-skill easy mobs which I could have tabbed through anyway". I didn't feel like it gave me more power or more survivability, since the unique/OoD mobs would usually see me before I could stab them, and awoken packs were just as deadly (actually, probably more deadly, since the XP that went to stealth/stabbing probably would have gone into HP/EV skills. Someone tell my gut why it's feeling is wrong.

Re: YASD - KoBe became bacon

KoBe has very little xp need (fighting, dodging, short blades & t&d). Sblades also require few levels to get to min deay. So it's easy to afford some stealth/stabbing in the midgame. Kobolds have good apts in all of these things and gain levels quickly (they even have good evo for rods.) Late game maybe switch to long blades (although I have cleared zot with a Ko and a spell-branded quickblade)

Also, id those scrolls nex time

You might consider lighter armour too

Re: YASD - KoBe became bacon

your stealth can overcome a lot, since both XL and Stealth skill go into it. Add the possibility of evokable invisibility (my KoBe used the Robe of Night) or potions/wand, and you can get a lot of free kills on relevant enemies. Dangerous monsters can often be approached from a better angle to limit their chances to wake, or avoided entirely.
