The usual "opening" is TrBe, right?
And then you switch to TSO?

I kind of decided to go for a more unconventional approach. Starting with TSO has its advantages: accuracy bonus (for those heavy maces and giant clubs), life protection, and shield with a 2-handed weapon.

The early game was fairly easy, the middle game was really hard (escaped twice from bad situations at 2HP) and the end-game was super easy. I got a +Blink armour early on which let me semi-control blink out of dangerous places and close in on ranged attackers if needed. Without it I would have been a sitting duck.

The real issue was building up F+ and C+ resistances. Once I got a golden dragon armour, it got easier.

Sounds like fun! I made a Troll Healer, and when I got to the temple so I can convert to TSO, I found a +1 pearl dragon armor! Now I'm paranoid I'll die in some horrible manner.

I have a question though, and I don't want to start a new topic just about it - The wiki says you can sacrifice "evil" weapons to TSO by praying at an altar, but how the hell do I do that? I dropped the weapon on the altar and tried to pray, but nothing happened. I prayed on the altar with the weapon inventory - same thing.

The wiki is mostly for 0.7. The sacrifice of evil weapons has been removed in 0.8.

Wearing a ring of regeneration will help a lot, and avoiding fighting too many enemies at once, especially ranged attackers.

Wait, TSO allows your 2h weapon to act as a shield? When did this happen?

I think he's referring to wielding a 2H and then casting Divine Shield. I, too, was thrown by that momentarily before I thought it through.

Yes, sorry, Divine Shield.
You already have Shields skill starting as Paladin so when you switch to a 2-hander you still benefit from it.
