Returning to the game after a long absence, this guy just started working without much fuss. My question is: Switch to the artifact double sword and a shield? I have upper levels of Elf and Swamp to train up with but the flaming executioner's axe has been serving me well so far. I turned off Axes a short while ago to boost fighting, what's the maximum it should go to assuming I stay with the big axe? Any other advice?

Your axes is reaally high and your long blades/shield not so much. Stick with the axe - it'll rip and tear enemies apart in no time.
Since you're using an exec axe, get your axes to 26 for min delay (or 27 for the awesome title).
Also, get traps & doors to 10 if you're worried about zot traps. 3 isn't enough to automatically detect traps.
There's also no point training throwing if you're going to use a sling, and vice versa.
Stealth and evo skill probably aren't needed, but train if you want to.

It's high enough until you get axes to minimum delay. The sword is nice for mid-game casters in the process of hybridization, but you're not one of those.

Turn off all your skills except axes, and finish training it. All those other skills you have on are just diluting your xp gains. The automatic algorithm is never going to make better choices than a real player.

This guy ended up dead in the WizLab, which was fine since I've never seen it before. Before the end I did find a shield of reflection and I noticed that even with just a few levels of SH he was much tougher to beat down; my piety went to 6* and stayed there. The small decrease in damage using some kind of war axe was worth the cost, esp. after finding a +0,+7 ring of slaying.
