YAVP - MDFi (Yred, Lugonu, & Jivya)

I actually started this game prior to the heavy armour restoration, and just finished it tonight after exporting my save to the newest version). Found a katana and boots of running early which made the mid game pretty easy. I wore a shield the whole time, which helped with defense (got to 30AC/7EC/30SH pretty quick) Yred was little help and I didn't use him for much except making a few zombies. Got banished by an ogre mage at XL 17 in the Vaults and I actually switched to Lugonu in the abyss after having most of my scrolls burnt up by smoke demons. This was the rare character who was strong enough to deal with god wrath (Yred's was pretty much a joke, sometimes he would send stuff like flying skulls) but not set up to survive in the abyss, so I actually converted. I left the game sitting for about a month or so, and picked it back up after the AC improvements. My thoughts:

- AC doesn't seem as good as .5 - runaway values are hard to get, GDA sucks now, and Crystal Plate is too rare. I don't think the easy mode combo of Oki/GDA/battleaxe is back (which is probably a good thing)
- AC/EV/SH combination defense seems good enough now to win without spellcasting. I wore icedragon armour for most of the late game and had ~40AC/15EV/40SH toward the end. The character seemed pretty well protected, but not invulnerable like the 55 AC bricks of .5. I also had crystal plate, but no way to enchant it and I only wore it in Zot 5 because the ice dragon armour would have been suicidal against orbs of fire.
- The uncapped AC scrolls don't matter that much, because you won't find enough of them unless you scum pan or something

Had to convert to Jiyva after getting a horrific set of mutations from a Zot trap and nequotexes (had fast meta 3, deterioration 3, blurry vision 2, and about 5 points of stat loss). Jiyva worked out great for getting rid of the mutations, and actually gave me a great set in return (though I don't think Jiyva should remove his special slime mutations after he gifts them), but his stat shuffling was beyond infuriating (kept stealing STR and DEX for worthless INT). Definitely a better choice than Zin if you get too mutated in the late game.

Zot 5 was horrible because I could only get RF+ and Orbs of Fire were everywhere (plus Lugonu kept summoning 1's as part of her wrath). Got hit by a couple 60+ HP damage fireballs, and almost died 3+ times. I didn't have cTele (maybe the jellies ate it at some point), so I had to random teleport several times AFTER getting the orb because 1's and OoF were blocking some of the exits. Between the 3 gods, horrible mutations, and ridiculous Zot:5, probably the toughest win I ever had.

Sounds like an incredibely interesting game! I gotta ask - why was GDA useless? Also, was Lugonu useful for you or did you take him just to get out of abyss?

I'm also surprised how low md hp is with 27 fighting. I thought it would be like 300, or over nine thousand...
