so i wanted to stop playing demigod casters and give another shot at my fav melee guy MiGl.
also never gave a try to makhleb and couldn't find any alters for okawaru so i said why not :)
so far im enjoying the experience, but worried for a hostile greater servant in the wrong time.
also have some questions:
1. how much invocations skill do i need for my greater servant to be reliable?
2. i might go for a 15 rune win if im successful, and minotaurs have a -3 aptitude for spellcasting... should i train spellcasting nonetheless for utility spells?

From the bots: The summon will be hostile if 1d(20+3*Invocations) <= 4, so some breakpoints are, 0 inv = 1/5 chance, 8 inv = 1/11 chance, 16 inv = 1/17 chance, 24 inv = 1/23 chance, 27 inv = just better than 1/25 chance.

Minotaurs and spellcasting... ugh. I'm not going to tell you it's impossible, but I've noticed you're persuing a heavy-armor build. That, combined with your 5 int, is going to make casting even the low level stuff pretty damn hard.

When I play Makhleb, I'm comfortable with 10+ Invocations for greater servants... not that it's impossible for things to go wrong at that level, but it's rare enough that I don't worry about it. (And by the time Invocations rises to that level, I might have more panic buttons online if a hostile greater demon does show up.) So you're not in a bad place now.

Yeah, on invocations, you rapidly reach a point of diminishing returns around 8-15 skill. At 10, it's 8% chance IIRC. By then you can also always either run or summon more to deal with the hostile summons.

Even 1/5 isn't bad at all.

One thing to remember: the RNG knows if you're using Greater Servant as a panic button, and absolutely will summon a hostile executioner when Rupert's coming for you. You'll have fewer "anal pucker moments" if you summon your nasties in a safe place and then use them offensively than summoning when something's breathing down your neck.

One thing to remember: the RNG knows if you're using Greater Servant as a panic button, and absolutely will summon a hostile executioner when Rupert's coming for you. You'll have fewer "anal pucker moments" if you summon your nasties in a safe place and then use them offensively than summoning when something's breathing down your neck.

if this is true, that explains why a hostile executioner popped up and killed me when I was down to 30 hp in front of a skelletal warrior. lol

Tension is not part of the formula. The underlying point is that Makhelb's demons are better used offensively (to kill moderately tough opponents) than defensively (when trying to escape). The Executioner you summoned will kill you if you're already at half health and in the heat of a battle but it won't if you're out of LOS of bad guys and prepared with consumables.

In more general terms, it's easier to deal with one problem at a time than two or three.
