Re: First time attempting a treasure trove

What's to ask about troves? They're a bit of a gambit. Some contain lots of consumables, others nice equips. Others some completely shitty stuff. It depends on the price the trove is asking. I personally am torn when it comes to this. Seen both ends of the deal. You can't really be sure, but in the end i'm a sucker for loot, so I always open them when I can. :P

Re: First time attempting a treasure trove

Weeeell if you find one early on (around D:12 or something) they may happen to feature a bunch of Vault Guards (the guys on V:8). I've seen a trove guarded by 4 once and by 1 on another occcasion. They're not really challenging.

Right, but that's the portal itself IIRC. There's no one inside the trove (again IIRC).

I've not been in many either - I think 3. I've encountered probably around a dozen and I think only 1 of those had a vault guard outside.

Re: First time attempting a treasure trove

What does the trove want? Treasure troves can provide great things but sometimes the entrance fee is a little bit steep.
What made you happy today?

It wanted a dragon armor +5. It was so-so, had like 4 manuals in it though, but the only useful one was fighting. No biggy, I YASDed later in shoals anyways.

I've found an early trove at D:11 unguarded. I've also found later troves (Elf:1) that are guarded by a bunch of Vault Guards.

Re: First time attempting a treasure trove

I'm currently scumming in Abyss for more enchant weapon scrolls so I can get into a trove with my MiBe. The entrance fee is a +6 demon trident, and I've burned two enchant weapon III scrolls on a +5/+6 demon trident. The first one I wasted because I forgot to equip the trident before reading. (*headdesk*) The second time I wound up with... a +5/+7 trident. :(

At least I got the abyssal rune for the first time. I was so depressed, I almost let two tormentors kill me. I finished the second one off with like 16 health left (out of 249) and only as I was healing up noticed the rune sitting there.

Update: Finally came across three ?Enchant Weapon I at once. Got into the trove and found... 4 more scrolls of Enchant Weapon I. :) It had like 4 manuals in it, too, which is nice, and a ring of see invis so I can finally stop toting around an extra randart axe. Still looking for an amulet of resist mutation, though.

Return to YASD! YAVP! and characters in progress too
