YASD: VpEn, advices end-game needed - not really anymore!

This is the first time I'm play a stealthy character (well, 2nd time, but in the other case I worshipped Nemelex, so I had enough firepower to destroy all the dungeon and main branches :lol:

) and now I'm having some problems, because I'm missing reliably way to kill stronger enemies - for this reason I'm quite afraid of doing elf:5 and especially Vault:8.

Actually, the early - mid game was a breeze (one of the easiest I've ever had), but unfortunately, now that I'm hitting the wall of high magic resistance enemies with sinvis, like dragons, and I don't know what solution could be the best to kill them with this character.
So, the question is: what should I do to proceed in the game? My only decent idea is to learn Animate Dead (I didn't need it until now!) and start to abuse of Kiku's corpse delivery service. On the other hand, I've never used undead servant, so I don't know how good are they in the places I'm going to visit. Is that a viable tactics or I'm going to die miserably?

Another question is about the weapon I should use: I was lucky, because I've acquired on d:10 the Spriggan's Knife, which did an amazing work for most of the game. It has ripped my enemies so well that I haven't had any need to use Kiku's last power to affix pain brand to another weapon. Too bad that now the biggest enemies have indecent HD, so it is going to become obsolete :cry:

The point is that I've just found a scimitar artefact that looks really good: +0,+12 scimitar of Night {flame, rElec rPois SInv Stlth++}. I'm not expert about long blades, so I'm asking to you: is this weapon worthy to train long blades skill (0 point now)? I'm planning to do at least a 6 runes win, or to die trying :lol:

You already have Summonings quite high, so one option is to use summons (ugly things, shadow creatures). I'm not sure how high you need it to be to summon dragons.
Training up Long Blades from scratch might be possible too but I'm not sure how far you'll get since it's quite late in the game. Maybe turn off all other skills and kick-start the skill by whacking plants.

Pain brand a dagger and use all your enchant weapon scrolls on it. The only things pain weapons don't work on are undead, demons, holy beings, and stuff with rN which there aren't many of, and you have other ways to deal with them (dispel undead, summoning). You can turn off summoning, stabbing, spellcasting (unless you want more spell slots), air magic and evocations. Pain weapons do 1d(necro skill) damage against vulnerable monsters, so training necromancy higher will give you more damage. Training necro higher will also help you cast Haunt.

Well, this character did an amazing job in all the place I was afraid of. Elf:5 was a breeze, because Alistair's intoxication and stabbing make wonders here. The loot was terrible, but at least there was a shop selling a quick blade, which I promptly pain-branded. Armed with that, I easily annihilated all the opposition in vault:8 - leaving the shadow dragons to my shadow creatures' pets. Also Zot was easy: stabbing draconians who can't see invis is like stealing candies from a baby. The only strong foe I faced was Tiamat, who succumbed to a party of berserking draconians (shadow creatures again!)
Slime was easy too, with a big annoying moment in Slime:6: after I had cleared the place around the central vaults, I buffed myself with haste, to go inside and slain the Royal Jelly. Too bad that I forgot to remove my stasis amulet! :roll:

Anyway, I could test my plain B, designed for misfortune and my stupidity: 3 rapid torment (I was bloodless) and one stab against the fleeing Jelly was all I needed to clear the places.

Also Tomb:1 was quite easy, as dispel undead and Abjuration work always well here. For first time I also had silence, which actually is useful when there a lot of greater mummies/mummy priest in LOS and you don't have an high-level conjuraction spell - btw, the choice of training long blades was right, as it didn't require a lot of experience thanks to the +4 apt for crosstraining bonus.
Unfortunately, I made an huge mistake in the first part of Tomb:2 : after I had cleared the enemies near the stairs, I moved to the left to complete the disinfestation, but when I returned to the stair, a big pack of mummies (if I remember correctly, 2 greater mummies, 2 priest, and 3 guardian mummies) were roaming around it. Nevertheless, I tried to go upstairs, hoping that silence and quick movement would suffice.
Actually, the mummies moved better than me, and blocked both the stair and me; in the end, I didn't manage to heal all the damage I was suffering, so I died disgracefully a turn or two before the teleport was ready :cry:
