I'm not sure what to do about my body slot. I have 2 spare enchant armour scrolls - I could make FDA or GDA. I've never gone heavy gear before and am unsure how much it'll screw up my casting. If strength is an issue I could go up to 17 with gloves of Str and lvl 27 stat.

Basically I'm sure I'm overprepared but orbs of fire terrify me and I have no cure mut pots left.

Yes, I know my skilling is all over the place. I haven't been playing smart with this dude.

Due to strength, you can't really wear GDA, it's beyond trash. Even if you did have 27 strength, you wouldn't be able to cast shatter and your haste/iron shot would tank. FDA is totally fine! Just don't forget to bring your rC back to normal.

Shatter will drop to unreliable, though, so beware of that. If you keep putting points into earth, though, it'll jump back up easily by Zot:5.

And OoF are actually wimpy if you have rF+++, haste, iron shot. Just make sure you wear your amulet of rMut. They fly, so don't shatter 'em.

I can't speak to the armor directly, I don't think you have enough skill and INT to cast in GDA, but I'm sure one of the experts will say for certain. Just wear your rMut amulet the whole time and keep the other amulet available for rElec on switch, or if you really want flight then switch to it the moment you see an orb of fire but you might still get mutated if you don't act fast enough. If you have another source of rF+, you can wear that too intead of your rCorrosion.

Having just won an SEEE in robes, for Zot:5 what you want to do is clear out the area above one of the lungs and cast shatter to break through there. Retreat right after as you'll wake up everything that's waiting there to kill you. Save a scroll of magic mapping if you have one just so you know where everything is.

Then you go do the other thing if desired above the other lung (this isn't as necessary and might be more trouble than it's worth since you'll also wake up everyone else). Then you see what the easiest way is to the orb chamber and liberally use haste, shatter, iron shot, shadow creatures and greater servant until you see the orb, apport it and finally run like hell.

Not having cure Mut is very unlikely to ruin your game now as you're about to win, you might be a glowing puddle of goo on the way out the dungeon, but who cares, you have the orb!

oh yeah, needed Str is 3xEV, not 2x. I'll go with the FDA. Iron shot, though, misses way too much for me to trust it to kill orbs :\

You can apport the orb? huh, never thought of doing that

Well, I think iron shot missed chance is based on spellpower or something. Either way, 9 conjurations is really low! Raise it a bit, unless shatter drops way too low from the FDA.

Yeah, spellpower determines the miss chance for spells. Do you have a staff of earth lying around somewhere? You might want to use it as a swap.

No, I didn't have a staff of earth.

Freakin' orbs of fire - 6 of them between me and the orb. Gave me berserkitis through my rMut. Makhleb kept sending hostile summons, too. I won though - LRD/Shadow Creatures carried me for the most part, iron shot for when I could get an orb by itself.

Now, I never play DD again. The no regen thing really bothers me.
