I am completely dumbfounded. There are no words to express how I feel. I succumbed to poison on Zot:5.
I even realized I was low on health, and that I should have quaffed a potion of healing. But for some reason, I went up the stairs first and instantly died.
I totally could have taken the orb chamber too. I had a combo of +9,+12 sling, +9 steel shot, a wand of hasting, and more than enough recharging. I mowed down an ancient lich with that, and I doubt the orbs of fire could have taken it.
Look at my gear. It makes me want to cry. I had every resist I could have wanted. I had reflection! (lucky result from my first scroll of acquirement). My accessories were awesome. I had ridiculous hp for a spriggan. At one point I took a crystal spear point blank to the face and survived! And with my rod of discovery I was pretty much immune to zot traps.
Really, really thought I was gonna make it- I was looking forward to my first win being with an atypical combo.

I started a SpBe a few days ago after someone here said they worked. Turns out they do- this guy was ridiculously effective. Easiest time I've ever had had in Elf:7, Vault:8, the Vestibule, or Zot for that matter. I cut the elves down with crazy slinging, and just backed off when summons got in my way. With my quickblade, haste, and a few brothers in arms I didn't even have to stair dance to deal with the Vault's guards. The Vestibule was a joke. Spriggan speed with actual hp and mele capacity made for an easy abyss.
Found a ton of portals this game. Artefacts too, even taking Trog into account.

I started a SpBe a few days ago after someone here said they worked. Turns out they do- this guy was ridiculously effective. Easiest time I've ever had had in Elf:7, Vault:8, the Vestibule, or Zot for that matter. I cut the elves down with crazy slinging, and just backed off when summons got in my way. With my quickblade, haste, and a few brothers in arms I didn't even have to stair dance to deal with the Vault's guards. The Vestibule was a joke. Spriggan speed with actual hp and mele capacity made for an easy abyss.
Found a ton of portals this game. Artefacts too, even taking Trog into account.
