YASD - "Forgot to breathe"

Well well,

I can't remember what particular character it was, a brute, stupid berserker.
I had 5 int, chopping away happily. Got sick, and my int detoriated to 3. No big deal I thought.
Then I found a quiet corner and started to ID my potions. Drank a potion of detoriation, and my int went to 0.

Now, I had always thought that once one stat falls to 0, you'd die. I was surprised I didn't. I had a potion of restore abilities with me, but I thought I'd just wait till my int came back - after all I didn't need any Int.

So, I keep on chopping happyily until "You forgot to breathe. You die ..."

I never felt more stupid than in that moment Hall of fame shows "died of unknown cause".

HAHAHA I knew that they removed instant Stat death but its never happened to me before.
I almost wonder what happens when one dies of Strength or Dex.

Just tried out Strength in Wiz mode and it just says that you die...

But the morgue file says "Collapsed under their own weight". And for dex, it says "Slipped on a banana peel"

I remember my first encounter with an orange crystal statue. I stepped into the kill zone, he drops my Int to zero in a single zap, and I die three turns later from "forgetting to breathe". Boy was that ever fun.

Yep that happened to me too on a TrBe. There was an orange crystal statue in the Lair and I knew deep in the back of my mind that I should just exclude it and avoid it, but it was such a great game that I charged in to fight it, without even berserking or using an Iron Troll brother. My Int kept falling (at one point to -6!) and I used up both my potions of restore abilities to keep going. Soon, I was forced to use my potion of brilliance. My Int dropped to 1 so I finally ran away to rest in a corner.

Alas, my brilliance timed out, and I died soon after.
