CiP: TroBe lvl 15

Made it to level 15 ... looking for any help anyone might care to offer (started as Troll hunter to get large rocks, but chose Trog so I'm really a TroBe!)

A few general points/notes:
I think I need more AC ... but no dragon armour found yet. Anything else I should do? (worth training armour skills anyway? Nothing I find fits!)
Been down a few branches but not attempted to get a rune yet.
I have a large collection of rings due to a treasure trove (first one I've ever seen!).

So ... what next? Am I making any huge mistakes with either equipment or skills? (do I wear that large shield now, or wait til I hit skill lvl 15?)
When will I be decent enough to attempt a rune? (and which one? Snake?)

I'd stop training Dodging, and instead pump Fighting and Slings.

If you are going unarmed for melee and slings for ranged then you might as well pump fighting and slings to get a bunch of nice ammo for your sling. using a shield on a TrBE is ALWAYS a good idea when u are going unarmed, and because of your large size that shield is usable at lower skill levels.

I'm no pro at this game, but here's my two cents...

Since you don't have a robe or resistance or anything remotely great on the body slot, if you could wear any dragon armour (except steam, which doesn't give any minus to EV) or even troll leather (you should have a troll hide for sure at this point) to start raising the Armour skill, it should be a top priority. Trolls and Ogres are pretty much glass cannons even with a nice shield. They might have great HP growth, but anything remotely dangerous can chip them down pretty quickly. So, more damage reduction is a good thing.
On another note, personally, when I'm about to enter Lair 8 I always raise my Traps & Doors to 8-12 so that I minimize the chances of springing any Zot traps. You should probably do that when you're about to enter your first branch end, frankly.

Other than that, your skills look fine.

Thanks for the tips. Indeed, I think I've been pretty unlucky to have the pretty rubbish body armour I have. Got to find me a dragon and get something half decent :)
In the mean time I managed Snake Pit, and got my first rune. Stepped on a zot trap but nothing bad happened (first time I've ever seen a rune - are they always surrounded by traps?)

mental note, be careful about runes. my two characters who have survived to get the Snake Pit's rune did not find any zot traps around the rune.
