CIP: Spriggan Hunter in Extended?

Hi all,

I am back to crawl after a hiatus, playing trunk and enjoying the Ranged Weapons revamp.

Currently playing a Spriggan Hunter, who I want to take to extended. My solution for managing his low HP is using the hat of the Bear Spirit with the Amulet of Vitality. I already started training Spellcasting just for the MP pool.
My plan had always been to switch to TSO/Zin for the later part of the game, but after finding the Amulet of Vitality I am wondering if there is another approach.

Would you recommend switching to another god but TSO? It seems like the benefits of worshipping TSO outweigh the value of the amulet.
Is it time to start casting some spells?

I just came across Wyrmbane in V:5, is there any point of growing it as much as possible, provided all my points are in DEX?

Any other tips are appreciated.

Wyrmbane is a seriously powerful weapon, although if you're poor at melee combat then powering it up by killing dragons can certainly be dangerous. Still it's one of a few high damage weapons that spriggans can use without penalty, so if you ever intend to use melee combat, it's a great choice.

I don't typically worship TSO so I'd go with the amulet, but if you're used to using TSO, I'd probably say stick with what you're familiar with if you're looking to ensure the win. Or try a different god if you want to expand your pantheon ;)

I'm probably the wrong person to ask, I mostly play Cheibriados, after that Qazlal, Ru, and Gozag are favorites. I did of course start out with the standard Trog starter kit, and have done a lot of okawaru runs as well. I also really need to do another Jiyva run soon!

As for if wyrmbane will be worth it with low strength - probably still yes, but not as great as it would be otherwise. Wyrmbane's base damage is pretty low so strength doesn't have a huge impact anyways, it's mainly from the +13 (currently) and +18 (final) enchantment. That being said, you have an incredible 34 dex, so ranged weapons get a huge boost and you may want to just 100% stick with them.

This char died unfortunately, but managed to win with a similar build. Went with Zin for the extended, I did not really need TSO's healing with so mich Regen+

Moot now, but if nothing else, Wyrmbane's 3 AC just from holding it in your hand, and it's a tiny amount of XP for mindelay.

The new Vitality doesn't give more HP directly (the worse things are, the less regeneration helps you), but you don't indicate what other amulets you have available...

Thanks! I like Wyrmbane a lot, but at one point I realized I won't be getting most out of it anyway, since I have been dumping all my points in Dex.
