Hi

I'm quite an experimented player (26 wins with 23 different species, 10 with 15 runes), but I need advice to try different things

1) I always play shields, but this time I wanted to try a two-handed weapon, so I went for Executioner axe. It's fun, but is it viable for 15 runes run? And for Ziggurat?

2) I'd like to try a Ziggurat, never been deeper in it than level 10 or so, it scares me. Is it possible with a melee Gargoyle? Any advice?

3) I'm tying to get a lot of AC, I'd like to use a Gold Dragon Armour, because I like the resistances. Should I train Dodging anyway or is it useless?

It's worth finding out how to post a character dump monospaced.

Shields are nice, but it's worth remembering they don't do a thing against torment and damnation, and killing the tormentor or damnation-hurler faster very much does. A couple of centaurs with bows aside, not an option you have, the last time I had an extended rune with a two-hander was a MfAr^Oka, demonic rune, not just wearing no shield but also a +0 robe (but then, torment and damnation also don't care how much AC you have). Why? The robe has Str+10, and if you have a +9 bardiche, Str 43, and Finesse on demand, nothing standing within two spaces of you lives very long.

I have done a grand total of one Zig, so hardly an expert, but I don't think it is feasible without some better way of dealing with screensful of bastards than melee. The phrase "melee Gargoyle" is curious, though - you're not a Troggie, so you're allowed spells, and even Troggies are allowed Evocations and ranged weapons, and you have a huge amount of XP coming your way. Why would you confine yourself to melee?

You also have the option of converting to a god who does more in extended and Zigs than Okawaru.

Dodging's not useless for a strong character in heavy armour, but train for the armour you have, not the armour you wish you had.
