YAVP: GrGl^Oka (0.28 trunk) - first win after seven years
Posted: Tuesday, 31st August 2021, 11:48There were times when I was quite a bit more active in DCSS, returning here and there to give new versions a shot. And today I finally managed to get a win, my first since an all-rune MiFi way back in 2014 (0.15 trunk at that time).
After a winless and runeless 0.27 tournament, I tried something I considered easier, not knowing about the current Okawaru changes (no allies, mostly, but not that I needed them). And indeed - while there were some tense moments early- and mid-game, in Depths and Zot I could stand toe to toe against anything the game threw at me. Dragons, titans, liches, orb of fire, all of them ended on the receiving end of 4! damage, and between all of my resists, nearly 200 HP and 75 AC, I could absorb quite a lot of punishment.
