CiP DgCj

Ok, after an abstinence of over a year I finally made my way back into this game which I always really enjoyed.
Instead of wasting character after character I will try to pursue a more wholesome approach this time in which I value every single character of mine.
This is the first one I created and I have already been blessed heavily by the RNG gods.
The falchion I found made me change my play style quite a bit and basically I just need a bit of advice on how to put the stuff I found to good use since I almost exclusively played pure casters and pure melee characters (winning my first game with MiBe)
Feel free to share your knowledge on how to "hybrid" this boi the best.
Also, would it be better to train Short Blades and then cross train since I have the manual?

In terms of spells, I'd try to get Summoning up. Butterflies and Spire can do a lot for survival. Spellcasting is also low, you might want to put points into that one too. The manual is a lucky find, with the XP rate and aptitudes from Dg you need all the help you can get. Definitely train short blades, you likely won't need LB training by the time you're done with the manual.
Long term, you can probably work towards Mana vipers and Shadow summons to shut down late game threats.
There is always something new to learn.

The manual won't help your LB training at all (it gets a portion of the xp you put into SB, which the manual doesn't change). It is always better to train the skill you actually want instead of a cross-training skill.

Use your id scrolls on potions. I wouldn't wear a shield, a buckler is fine if you have one somewhere. Read-id the stack of 4 scrolls.

i'm fairly certain that the manual increases the number of xp-points you get into short-blades by 100%, and 40% of the short-blade xp-points count towards long-blades. In total you'll get 80% of what you'd 'normally' get.
I haven't actually looked into the code, but this seems like the only plausible way for it to work.

AFAIK the manual doubles the skill points you get from experience (raising your skill apt by +4 does this), but cross-training is based on experience points, not skill points.

And this is the description of my "get skills quick" schemes getting murdered. I didn't know this stuff, just saw manuals as free XP when compatible with the current build.

As a general rule for hybrids, focus on training one way of killing things and shore up your defenses before trying to kill things in other ways.In your case, I would train for fulminant prism, train defenses and then get's some general weapon skill (you could training long blades instead of fulm. prism first instead). Picking up summon lightning spire and summon butterflies is also a good move.

Use scrolls of identify on potions. Read one of the stack of 4 unknown scrolls. Put on the unknown amulet.
