YASD: DrCj - worst start ever
Round the very first corner from the dungeon entrance, I encountered a pack of jackals.
I had no weapon, only magic dart and a measly 3 MP.
Luckily there was a downstairs near the entrance, so I backtracked with 2 jackals following and managed to get downstairs with only one.
Killed him with only 2 HP to spare. Healed up. Went back up and killed the other jackal that had followed.
OK, so I clear D:1 and go down to D:2.
I find a ring and put it on. It's a cursed -4 ring of intelligence. Arrrghhh! That's pretty bad news for a caster.
Read every scroll I have, but none of them are remove curse. Damn.
A little bit later, I get shafted to D:4. Aarrrrghhhh!
Then due to a pillar dancing fail, I get trapped between a hound and an orc.
Use up all my MP trying to kill them.
With not much HP left and as a last resort, I chug a potion of berserk rage. Luckily I had a war axe by then.
That potion and war axe saved my bacon, but only just.
Round the next bend I run into Natasha. I run away and manage to get up to D:3 then D:2.
On D:2, I find an altar of Vehumet. Finally, a bit of good luck!
Cleared D:2 and D:3. Finally found a scroll of remove curse on D:3 and could get rid of the ring of dumbness.
Back on D:4, Natasha comes round the corner right when I'm fighting an ogre. Between the two of them, they almost killed me, but I managed to escape.
At this point I figured D:5 might be safer, so I went downstairs. Explore. Explore. Grinder! Aaaargh! Nooooooooo.
Tried to fight him. Almost died. Teleported away at the last moment.
Went upstairs to regenerate. Natasha! Nooooooooo. Back downstairs. Regenerated.
Since I hadn't found any downstairs on D:5 yet, I had to keep exploring it.
At this point I decided I needed to kill Natasha because I needed to be able to escape upstairs if Grinder appeared.
Killed her twice. After the 2nd kill, she reappeared almost immediately, before I had time to regenerate fully.
Came very close to death again, but managed to put her soul to rest.
Soon after this, I turned into a Black Draconian (+2 Air magic, -2 Earth magic).
A bit later, Vehumet offers me his first spell. Sandblast! What a troll.
Now I've managed to get to D:6 (bypassing Grinder on D:5) and cleared it.
I'm currently doing D:7, but it's tough. I'm not really strong enough for the enemies there and I keep having to escape back to D:6.
