YAVP: GnWz of Oka

Underground.eu is back and I finally found some time to continue my Gn game.
The character was so powerful early that I tried mutation roulette. What can I say? I won't ever try mutation roulette again.
Being unable to heal with monsters in view + slow scroll reading is a very nasty combo. I got down to a single scroll of teleportation after first rune. Fortunately recently I lost the former mutation so now I have "just" "no potion heal 1". Also I got "mutation resistance 1" so I guess I will be stuck with those mutations forever:

I got a demon trident from Asterion and it was very nice: lightning spire is a broken spell, especially when combined with Mana Vipers and skeletons. (Un)fortunately I have just branded the demon trident from venom to vampiric so I should stop using "+9 fustibalus "Wetrih" {god gift, flame, rC+ MR+ Dex+4}" :(
Oka was very nice by the way, despite throwing arrow and bolt gifts at me, faith helps a lot, I ignore unknown plain amulets.

With so few escape tools, Shoals, Elf and especially Vaults will be a nightmare. I found gnolls to be ridiculously weak in the middle game. But we trust you :D

Vaults 1-4 have been cleared before entering Elf.
I cured slow reading mutation, now I have berserkitis instead :( Escaping was hard, Elf 3 was a nightmare indeed.
I got some nice body armour options : +5 CPA (enchanted it from +1), +5 plate armour and +2 robe of Pazecirgh {rElec rC+ Dex+2 Slay+3} together with Ozo Armour.
While I was trying all of them on Shoals 4 to compare, I got attacked by some monsters and found that I don't really need body armour: AC 34 and EV 21 while naked :)
Also it was fun when I used a -7 shield for rF++ and +Inv, quite useful in Elf :)
It wasn't fun when I was attacked by a merfolk impaler with draining weapon for a couple of turns and got all skills down to 8 from 14. It looked like a bug and it took me quite a while to get back to 14 :(

OP character. I didn't even use +9 CPA that much. Gn is nice for using artefacts except 2h weapon like dark maul which I found in Elf3.

I don't know how a CPA is even a possibility on a character with 16 Str and spells. Wouldn't it kill all your spells?

Level 5 spells still were castable (yellow 9%, all magic skills at 16 and armour at 21 help a lot), I used CPA with buckler which gave me +4 Str. DMsl and Death Channel were red indeed (44% as far as I remember).
I decided to use that robe because I was lazy to travel for rC+ ring and pay attention when monsters with electric or cold attacks are in view.
CPA was giving me AC 58, EV 12, not a great increase over that robe with Ozo and I wasn't worried about orbs of fire because of rF+++ (two oofs attacked me simultaneously twice and I didn't get even below 60-70% HP: heroism + finesse + might is crazy).

Oh, I forgot to mention how much I hated one transporter on Crypt:2 in this game. It showed some nice loot but no monsters at all. Ok, I was ready to sacrifice a scroll of teleportation if needed. After entering the transporter I found 2 cacodemons behind transparent stone walls with some rock walls behind them. Ok, I thought, looks like good and interesting design, the cacodemons will destroy the rock walls if I go for the loot. Probably I can try to avoid them or just haste and run for the loot so I hasted and moved forward. No way it was a good decision, I got another cacodemon right between me and loot, along with a cursed skull, flayed ghost and some "minor" things like ancient lich. I have no idea what character can get the loot in 3 rune game (probably one with fire storm), it is really a trap for new players. I will never enter this vault again of course, it cost me a potion of healing and scroll of teleportation.

You can unthank by clicking same button again.
If it isn't clear, I didn't get any loot and didn't try attacking any monster so those were wasted consumables.

That's not the correct way to look at it. You had a chance to get the loot, which involved some risk. The consumables were you deciding that the risk wasn't worth it, and cutting your losses.

Some people like these blind gambles. Or at least some devs.

I'd like to see a player/character who chose the risk. To me it's like putting 3 orbs of fire on D:1 for a randart ring

I've recently cleared that vault, on this char I think. All you need is the provided wand of digging. Free the cacodemons one by one and use zig-zag patterns, preferably with some butterflies to block malmutate. Charging head-first is rarely a good idea in DCSS.

I see that I have really different attitude towards mutations. Unknown loot is not worth bad mutations IMHO so I didn't even consider fighting those cacodemons.
