CiP: An experimental MDFi

I started this as a little experiment... for science. Don't think I'd ever seriously go Cheibriados on a MDFi if I wanted to win. :P

There are no monsters in sight!

As you can see, I decided to use Cheibriados' powers to allow me to cast spells; I found a Book of Fire early on which is awesome right now. Fireball is slowly but surely becoming hungerless, I hope that Bolt of Fire will follow suit and decline to at least Choko hunger very soon (the Intelligence! the Intelligence! :D) and Ignite Poison just made a clean and extremely fun job of Snake.
I'm loving Bend Time, Boris, Roka and Xtahua fell before it. Sadly I had to use ** of piety slouching Mr. Big Bad Legendary Door-Opening Dragon to death.

The gear is great. That electrocuting sabre is from D:1, and instantly made me switch from Axes to Short Blades... I found that accidentally ponderised IDA on D:6, I think (my fourth early dragon armour in two days now... an alternative account will hopefully cast spells in Storm Dragon Armour, courtesy of D:7). Both a Hat of Pondering and the Hat of the Alchemist! I can't believe my luck in getting it off Gastronok exactly as I play a Cheibriados game.

Went from D > Lair > Orc directly to Snake because the game is drowning me in EXP. I fully cleared an Ice Cave due to rC+++, found that artifact ring which allowed me to slaughter a Spider Nest with Fireball, and encountered a vault featuring about 7 death oozes, a couple acid blobs and other annoying corroding things (their fault my sabre is -1! Not that it matters much) which I Slouched... glad I had Chei there. ;)

Couple questions:
How does Ignite Poison perform in Swamp? It seems like many monsters leave green corpses here...
Has anyone done the Hall of Blades using Slouch? The scimitar is decent but I really would like a better weapon, so considering making my way downstairs to the Vaults and then to Blade, but I have nothing great at killing the dancing weapons except Slouch.
Are green ugly things vulnerable to Ignite Poison?

Let's see how this develops! Think I'll turn on Dodging for now since my Dexterity is great and I am only in EV -3 armour. It's definitely a unique (for me) and fun character so far.

EDIT: Just came out of the Pit and into the Dungeon.
  Code:
f - a demon blade                                             600 gold

...yep. I'm doomed.

Where's my Vorpalise Weapon?

Alligator, Swamp Worm, Baby Alligator (duh), Slime Creature, Vampire Mosquito, Bog Mummy... many monsters there aren't poisonous. Hydra, Swamp Drake, and Swamp Dragon have green corpses.

Are green ugly things vulnerable to Ignite Poison?

Yes.

Don't die, dude! :)

Re: CiP: An experimental MDFi

I've never taken Ignite Poison to the Swamp, but it should work well, since anything that leaves a poison corpse is vulnerable to it... not that you should be worried, as a character with your AC/SH, a flame sword, and magic to boot won't have much trouble mauling his way through it.

Re: CiP: An experimental MDFi

In mid-vaults now after clearing the Dungeon down to 20. I'll probably do Swamp after V 1-7. Just emerged from Dorokhloe's Tomb after showing the ancient lich and his greater mummy friend what's what (4 Bolt of Magma for the lich, 4 Bolt of Fire for the mummy... needed one Step From Time so I could take them one on one though). Finally found cTele.

I'm currently working on Spellcasting, Dodging and Translocations... Phase Shift is castable and with it I have 30/27/37 defenses. I have a new ice dragon hide so the rather low AC will increase soon. Controlled Blink is still Poor but hey, not long to go! :) Off Mara, I have a demon blade of venom I'm currently using, though I'm enchanting the other so I can brand it with flaming/freezing, probably the latter.

You know what sucks? Cheibriados realtime speed. Sure, I'm dying much less but man, I miss mashing Tab at centaur and yaktaur packs. I can't imagine this build without spells... it must be horrible to take four arrows from every centaur for every square you walk up to them. I'll try another MDFi of Chei (for science) on streak (optimism! optimism!) using no spells, but axe and crossbow. I bet I'll lose. My success is not down to the combo being good, but to lucky gear drops. It has to be. This being strong is against all laws of nature. :P

There's something cool about an MDFi casting Bolt of Fire, Controlled Blink and (soon) Shadow Creatures and Summon Demon... I like the way I need no Charms skill at all because that school is strong, but tedious. The only ones I have are Repel Missiles and soon Regeneration.

EDIT: Book of Annihilations. Must... resist...

EDIT II: V:8 strategy planned: Olreb's Toxic Radiance > Ignite Poison > Olgreb's Toxic Radiance > Ignite Poison > Olgreb's Toxic Radiance > Ignite Poison
This sounds horribly inefficient and wonderfully fun...

Whatever for? My best MDFi hybrid (back in 0.5, anyhow) had IMB at Excellent (back when IMB was in Annihilations) and was working toward LCS. While wearing storm dragon armour and a medium shield. And had I not made the first-time-Tomber mistake of "what could possibly go wrong?", I would've had it.
You fall off the wall. You have a feeling of ineptitude.

Re: CiP: An experimental MDFi

Well, casting Fire Storm is a bit impractical when threeruning when your Spellcasting is -3 and your Conjurations at -1. Working more on Fighting and Dodging, and maybe a bit of Summoning to cast Shadow Creatures in Zot, would be better.
Now that I have an eudemon blade (thanks, Mennas!) and Annihilations I guess I stand a realistic chance at allruning (though it will be harder than the last stuff I allruned, HuEE, CePr, DrCj, GhAr, HOPr...).
This will be a bit slower now. Started my A-Levels today plus some extracurricular studying so I don't have that much time to crawl anymore. I'll still update on a regular basis though. :)

Finished D, slaughtering V:8 currently. I'll give you a new dump when I'm about to hit extended.
