Hi crawlers ! This looked like a retirement but it seems that you don't really quit Crawl at all. I also really wanted to see this new Gnoll race and have a try at them.

I've been doing pretty good so far. No Ash trick to be able to focus a little on skills, Transfer seems disable for Gnolls ! Devs think to everything :p

So this character has 3 runes under its belt and can go for more. But I don't know what weapon I should use in extended…

The main choices are my demon trident of electrocution, a staff of earth, various eveningstars and broad axes. I have enough ?EW and some ?brand weapon. I could even lurk a little in Pan for a sacred scourge. My question is, which weapon would you use in extended ? Any 2-handers can be considered too, that would have the advantage to allow me to switch to a crossbow...

I'll obviously keep a dagger for stab purpose and my +10 blowgun + needles.

As noone wanted to help, I was on my own to chose this endgame weapon ! So I used a lot of them !

Stabbed all Pan and Hell lords. Same with the Serpent of Hell.

Gnolls are way better than expected. They allow you to really use whatever you find in the dungeon without needing to adapt. I felt like past Lair they can use anything for free ! Going for another one very soon :D

This is interesting, because my thoughts were the exact opposite. Gnolls are ridiculously bad in the middle game. When you go for runes, you still cannot use any level 6 spells, level 5 only with wizardry, and you can forget about big weapons. I am not experienced enough to assess whether they are worse than mummies - but yeah, somewhere in that ballpark.

My bad, post-Lair did include Lair runes in my words... indeed mid-game is kinda hard. But playing skald was a good option imho for this. Some lvl 1-4 utility spells + a medium 1h weapon and a shield did the job quite well.

Can I ask, how did you stab the hell & pan lords? Do they just hang around sleeping and can you just creep up on them while sleeping? Blink next to them? They always seem to just come at me.

The lords were paralyzed with blowgun and corresponding needles.
Underestimated: cleaving, Deep Elf, Formicid, Vehumet, EV
Overestimated: AC, GDS
