[YASD]DsFE ^Mak - I should've already been dead

Hi Everybody,

this is a weird one.
After splatting a ton of Ds meleer I rolled a magic user. Before I realized what was happening, it turned our this guy had spirit amulet always on due to a mutation. I started to believe that keeping investing in magic would have lead me to a quick dead and started to hibridize. Problem is that I suck and now, in Lair 2, I don't know what to do after raising Fighting and Dodging to 10 and a bunch of magic skills to 6 in order to cast sticky flame.

I've found a magic rapier that has freezing brand (good in lair) and the singing sword (meh...). I think I should start traning a weapon (maybe short blade that only needs 14 points with the rapier? nothing better showed up so far) and keep raising dodge and go light armor in order to dodge blow and keep my magic pool undepleted, but I don't know if I should aim for better spells in the long run or start considering this dude a meleer (maybe a stabber, given the rapier, the robe with +stealth and the magic cloak?).
Any suggestion from the skilled players (and also from the unskilled, every opinion is welcome :) )?

Do you have a better weapon? You can go stabber way indeed, Evocations will be very useful for +Inv, +Rage and those wands of paralysis (use id scroll on them by the way) and you even have Confuse in a book.
Normally I wouldn't join Makhleb as FE but if I did, I would start to hybridize as fast as possible to take advantage of HP-restore (it does not do anything if you are killing things with magic at range). Of course you still can go Fireball-way if you want, it's really up to you.

So you think I can go the wizard route even with the mutation that shares dmg betweeb HP and MP? It won't be risky?

As DsFE of Makh I would stop at level 5-6 spells (Fireball or Bolt of Fire), it should be a hybrid no matter if it has the magic shield mutation or not. I mean I would get Fireball at about 1-3% and then worked on weapon skill (hopefully some good weapon will be available by then).
