Hi,
Got a bit bored with all my NaFi^Gozag and decided to try something completely different.

Any advice related to skilling would be appreciated. Both deaths were due to stupidity.

Don't train Hexes unless you have Invisibility somewhere. Train more Fighting/Dodging/UC. Stealth is low priority now IMHO.

I thought it increased the probability of sticking Hexes to mobs.

It does, but with your current spell power you shouldn't have any huge problems. In the worst case you cast it a couple of times, then reset the fight if you have to. You are faster than many enemies after all, and very stealthy!

I would not routinely wander around with rC-. I'd probably swap the ring of fire to the rC+ one. You will get rC+ shortly, at which point you can more safely use the ring of fire.

Yes, it does but the increase is quite small, late skill levels become much more expensive and you have more useful skills to train. As Felid you don't even need high success chance for Confuse, you can just retreat a bit and try again.
When playing En, my primary concern is what I am going to do with monsters who have high MR. So later you will need some of conjurations, summons, statue form etc.

A (probably unnecessary) word of warning:
If you happen to shoot for statue form and want to use some other forms while it comes online (e.g. ice, hydra, and later, dragon), be careful! While the extra HP may seem a lot in comparison with your usual (but in absolute terms, it's about as much as a DE or halfling), you're hurting your EV and speed, which, for kitties are very important: you will possibly be even squishier than usual. Statue form instead doesn't change your size and you keep your EV, and I've found it to be quite useful even with the reduced speed.

My felid^dith run used damage spells from book of death for the mid game. I would recommend that if you happen to find the book of death or dispell undead/bolt of draining from other sources. I also used dragon form late game, although I hear statue form can be very good too. My experiance with dragon form was also very good, just don't use the breath. Just don't treat this like a gauid and wait the whole game to get these if they don't drop.

I had a Statue-cat a while ago and the damage felt pretty underwhelming. Is there any value in picking Str at level up, to get to 10 maybe?

I would usually recommend to branch into conjurations and/or summons/necromancy.

I'm not sure and some code diving user could check this better, but I believe the melee damage penalities for str < 10 are not total negligible.

However that shouldn't be really noticeable with an high damage output as UC+statue form (at least if UC was high enough)

I remember some fsim for Str 4 cat in statue form, it was still much better than demon weapons with Str 10+, at least vs orb of fire.

A quick reminder that in 0.20 there was a rather obscure and sneaky change to form damage, in particular about bonus from stats:

So I guess low Str Fe forms do more damage now. Good for Fe. More Dex/Int!
