This and my last game (a DDFi) have made me realise I've underestimated basically all the evocations. All the following were awesome for both characters, and are rather common in all games:
- Evokable invisibility.
- Evokable rage.
- Wands. Scattershot is a particularly nice one.
All these rock throughout a 3-5 rune game. As does Ash, who made skills almost too easy to acquire; by the end, there was nothing much I wanted to train. I felt strong before I found running, and very strong afterwards.

Skalds are a little tedious; I like the abilities, but they involve a lot of casting. I mostly gave up on SoG because of the tedium/power ratio, for example. Barachi are fun; the slowness with hop is a nice change-up. Though it probably makes them even more lurey to play well than normal races.
