Hi ! First let's be clear, I know MiBe is supposed to be an easy noob combo, but I also know that I'm really bad at Crawl. So I'm asking you guys :
  • I switched from Axes to LBlades because of a good long sword of Elec, then Great sword of freezing. However Trog just gifted me an antimagic executioner axe, should I switch back to Axes for the rest of the game and waste that LBlades XP?
  • I intend to abandon Trog for TSO to try and go for extended, any comments/ideas?
  • Would it be worth it to get Statue Form castable for when I'll be with TSO or should I just burn the book for piety?
  • Does anyone notice any crucial flaw with my skill set? I'm open to ideas on how to evolve.

Re: CIP MiBe LBlades/Axes dilemma

Stay with long blades.

Worry about the rest when you get there.

Train more armour and dodging.

Thanks for the fast answer !

Sounds good, maybe I'll get a good endgame sword in the meantime.

I was told to almost never train armour because it was worthless?

No! At 18 long blades and 6 axes, the amount of XP you'd need to get the exec axe online is huge; it's not so much that you'd be wasting the long blades XP so much that you wouldn't raising your other skills to the levels you need to survive. In all probability, Trog will give you a good antimagic long blade before long.

Fingolfin wrote:I intend to abandon Trog for TSO to try and go for extended
No! Or anyway, don't do it if your main goal is to win/learn the game. In any case, don't switch until you can reliably cast or evoke Blink, to help escape the crowds of berserk trolls and giants Trog will summon.

Fingolfin wrote:Would it be worth it to get Statue Form castable for when I'll be with TSO
No! You're a 4 Int minotaur. You've got bad aptitudes in both schools and you should wear heavy armor. Getting Statue Form castable under these conditions would require an insane amount of XP if it's possible at all; plus you don't even fight unarmed, so you'll miss out on one of the spell's main benefits.

Fingolfin wrote:Does anyone notice any crucial flaw with my skill set?
Yes! Your defensive skills are way too low. Stop training Fighting and Long Blades immediately and spend all your XP on Armour and Dodging. I'm no expert but I'd recommend 2/3 Armour and 1/3 Dodging with your stats/gear. Once the former hits 12 or so you can raise long blades to 20 to hit mindelay with your greatsword. After that, turn it off and train Fighting, Armour, and Dodging (giving the latter half as much XP as the other two) and maybe Crossbows. Plus get Evocations to 6 ASAP.

From now on listen to that guy's advice, do the opposite, and you'll be fine.

Are lower level spells like Passwall, Repel Missiles and Swiftness worth it?

I'd say so, but only after your main combat skills are at healthy levels (mid-to-high teens).

I think you probably misread the whole thing. This is a berserker, cannot learn spells yet, only after switching to TSO.

I meant for later of course, though I agree it didn't come out as I meant.

Re: CIP MiBe LBlades/Axes dilemma

Also, what would you think between :
  • the +6 great sword of Fimbulwinter {slice, +Blink MR+}
  • a +5 great sword of freezing
  • a +2 antimagic demon blade
I like the demon blade since it would allow me to get shields going, and it would become a eudemon blade with TSO, but its damage might be underwhelming compared to a triple sword ?

Re: CIP MiBe LBlades/Axes dilemma

MiBe you wind up just training Fight/Weapon/Dodge/Armor to max in some order that typically favors weapon training more at first.

I'd say Axes would be ideal for your guy. While L.Blades works really well with your MiBe due to Riposte and Headbutt, the EV is a bit low to make it fully effective. When you choose L.Blades it's easier to raise Dex when you can. That said, you have better L.Blades available now, which allows you to stay ahead of the difficulty so it's doable.

I would say switch to TSO to get Holy Wrath on a triple sword would be ideal for your guy. But, you need to get Fighting/Dodging up to high skill. Keep a anti-magic weapon at min delay on hand to deal with Bosses while you spam summon Angel works wonders.

If you had a lot Dex and spell power statue form would be nice, because it would give you 30+ AC at high power, and you retain your base EV. But you have 4 int and level 6 spells are more doable with around 25-27 Int without a ring of wizardy. So you'd want a background suitable to casting level 6 spells b/c they also give good dex stats. And, you won't need high str.

Haha ! Trog finally gifted me my +3 antimagic triple sword (also I will probably get high crossbow skill later on since I was given a sweet +9 triple crossbow of penetration)
