I did not actually shaft myself, perhaps there are one or two places where it could be worth the risk but broadly speaking it doesn't help you much in speed because you'll still need to find an upstairs to return the way you came later... so why not just go to downstairs so you'll emerge at upstairs and have its location mapped for later?

advantage of Fo is easily getting benefits of shield, only required 9/15 skill for shield/large shield penalties to be removed which means normal shield is better and large shield is viable. makes it much easier to tab through things, SH is great. (previous world record actually also used shield!) and of course you can use two hander with shield but I actually never even did that this run lmao(because the vampiric weapon I found was 1 hander), so theoretically this could be faster in that regard if you got a vampiric battleaxe/exe axe instead of broad axe... also could have rcfile tweaks to help go faster.

I think MiBe probably can be a bit faster than FoFi, but FoFi is damn good. extremely easy earlygame and once you have * with oka almost nothing can stop you.

fwiw my skilling goes like...

• train only axes to 5-6
• train both axes and shields until shields hits 9(or 15 if you find large shield)
• once you hit * with oka, turn on invo until it hits 7
• once shields and invo both have hit 9/15 and 7 turn them off and, train fighting/armor alongside axes
• once fighting and armor hit 10, turn them off and train dodging/axes
• once dodging hits 10, train fighting/armor again. if axe you will use forever has hit mindelay, turn off axes and focus fighting.

pretty simple but maybe helpful to someone. there is nothing actually important about the number 10 of course, it's just a point where it's easy to recognize "I have a decent amount of this skill" rather than an actual breakpoint. you can easily replace it with a similar number that is relatively low investment and have basically the same result

How fast is troll would you say? Relative to MiBe on FoFi. Not experienced in speed running but I always feel I can plough through the game faster as a troll then a MiBe

I imagine they have similar advantages a FoFi has, excluding the fact that they spawn with the best weapon they're gonna find (I.E. claws) short of an eveningstar of vampirism. You're gonna struggle getting decent AC together but you have regen+ which is a pretty good intrinsic on its own and a buttload of HP to make up for it. Give it a shot! Practice makes perfect.
