My second escape, a short tale i'm not proud of

Nine days after the first escape, here is the second one. Damn i wish i didn't start this game...

Once upon a time..
...i was having a good time with octopussies. They are awesome. They do really feel intense after my past Spriggans addiction.
In 2 days i had 4 OpWr^Ash||Dith clearing Lair. One was a few pixels far from decayin rune, i just have a visual trouble noticing Lernaean Hydra (which is fine) while focusin at swamp dragons in noxious fumes. I loved every one of those chars, and it felt like i really could go very far.
I'm very satisfied also to be able to reach Lair staircase 75% of the times i start an octo warper, surviving amazingly challenging situations (at least for my noobish experience). This is based on last week tries.

Till yesterday when i took it too easy....
I lost my last one on dire elephants. Really wasted... mpft... i felt like i need something different, just to regain the proper tensed love on Oppies. Just a fewcompletely different dumb rounds before bed. Something i never tried.. what to ..? ... -------> MiBe!

I started tabbing, "o"ing, tabbing, "o"ing, pleased to gain heavy armours on Bailey, interested what will happen by skillin high armour, afraid by burning spellbooks (burning an Akashi Record for a Wr player is kinda.. it fels bad. Really), tabbing and so on. God gift was a funny new event. Cleaned Lair, cleaned Orc, time for runes.
Well, i paid some attention just till the spider's rune. Not that it needed brain,i tabbed till there.
It felt like being a truck driver in the incoming era of autopiloting cars. You are supposed to be just a overviewer.
Then i noticed why Trog is named like that. Troglodite is very explanatory for such people enjoyin this gamestyle. Didn't clear shoals, just the shortest way to the rune, choosed to go for silver rune and tabbed TILL THERE. Really. Can u believe? I tabbed through V:5 straightforward. The only incident was being banished in Abyss 2 times but hey, the luck wasn't enough, i was genetically stable by benefical mutation potion. Ouch.
I wanted to die. Depths may be challenging? No. What about Zot? Omg is so late.. need to sleep pff. F**k i wont spend time in Zot. When i find a downstair i'll enter.
So the Orb run been the only interesting part even with healing wand and 13(iirc) recharging scrolls. I had to care because such a ghost would last there forever against my octos.

Guys, if u want to keep people playin DCSS you should add some popup warning when pickin this char. Definitely. If there wasn't such an underlayin octo love i could be stopping the game for a long time. 3.30 hours of torture over 4.30 played. It's dangerous ... i could have some stat badmutation in real life since then.

Morgue as attachment so u will have to REALLY care to see it. Not really worth.
:evil:

Well, you were quite lucky with items.

c - the +9 war axe "Neqireno" (weapon) {holy, +Rage rC++ rN+ Str-2}
(Trog gifted it to you on level 5 of the Dungeon)
j - the +7 crystal plate armour of Haotekk (worn) {MP-9 Int+5}
(You found it in a bailey)
Q - the -2 hat of the Alchemist (worn) {rElec rPois rF+ rC+ rN+ MR+ rMut rCorr}
(You found it on level 13 of the Dungeon)

Nothing surprising though, several people won MiBe using a spear whole game.

The worst point of this is when u lose interest in items. At some point i stopped tryin new amulets, rings etc. The only exception was for trasure portal, since i entered it only one time till now i was curious how good may be gifts compared to the often high sacrifice (this time was unusually affordable, "just" 2 curemut pots).
The final weapon was the first god gift at d:5 (!!) (the second one was there just for sInv).
I often read "which weapon is better", i had such a question too when had to take the max out of a beloved char in need. But when comes to MiBe it doesn't really matter :roll:
Thx for comment as usual.

You begin to see how speedrunners think. "Once I pick up something good enough, I can stop thinking about that item type".

When I find amulet of regen I usually stop picking up non-artifact amulets.

mumble..
I think the best combo i tried is amulet of mana regen + regen spell. Very fast replenishing after dangeous fight in an unexplored level, a real life saving.
Best general purpose amulet is Reflection with a buckler, selfshooting yaktaurs are really a pleasure. When bolts are still a bad threat halving a shooters band without efforts helps a lot.
Since u know it better, why just amulet of regen?

I think you are underestimating faith, guardian spirit and rage.

I won't use rage over regen unless it's very early game. I won't use faith over regen unless I happen to use-id it. I may use gs on felid, that's why I said "usually".

Regen is good when you are very powerful character (HO in heavy armour, for example).
When you are weak (low HP, low base damage weapon, bad defenses), rage is much better. Of course one needs patience to use rage, it basically requires luring back into explored territory.
Faith is similar, you don't need help with powerful combos but weak characters really appreciate extra invocations.
Guardian spirit is good with low HP characters, that includes Fe, Sp, Ko, Ha, Te, DE, Op, regen does not help them that much because they cannot stay in fight if heavily wounded and guardian spirit can let them survive where they would be dead otherwise.

For speedrunning, regen is better, but for simply winning I think guardian spirit is flatout better on every character that isn't blasty caster

Good thing I don't play those.

Rage is also good for very powerful char. Nothing forbid you to swap it when you need MIGHTY POWER
