New highscore: PurpleRed's DECj

2 days ago PurpleRed brought us a new score: 75,249,848 by winning a DECj^Veh in 19,065 turns.
Fun fact: PurpleRed beat last Sapher high score with +200k points, but Sapher's game was 2 turns faster! XP amount does matter!

And weak species too ;)
And you know what? It was pretty close to pure caster. I doubt he retreated often. Actually I spectated some of his attempts with DECj, Sublimation of Blood rules...

Re: New highscore: PurpleRed's DECj

My first thought seeing the morgue was that PurpleRed found the Robe of the Vines very, very early but no:

P - the +2 robe of Vines (worn) {NoDeviceHeal Regen+7}
(You found it on level 5 of the Pits of Slime)

Three level 9 spells going with 1% failure. Pure spellpower offense and still had the time to train Staves to 12 and Dodging to 15..
No matter if people state Vehumet being useless god, this run could not have been done without worshiping him.

Congrats, PurpleRed!

Re: New highscore: PurpleRed's DECj

Mildy surprised anyone noticed really. Heh.

"Pure caster' is a little bit of an understatement for this one. Here are the stats for the last half of the game:

Reached lv19 at turn 10134, exited at 19065, so 8931 turns elapsed.

In these 8931 turns:
3893 spells were cast.
->43.6% of all turns were spent casting.

988 lv9 spells were cast.
->11% if all turns were a lv9 spell.

18669 mana was consumed casting these spells.
->2.1 mana per turn was used on average.

As a comparison, Staff of Energy with 27 evo channels 1.9 mana per turn on average.

How is it possible? Does DE replenish more than this on turn and you almost never were at full MP?

Natural replenishment + Vehumet mana on kill + Sublimation of Blood + some staff of energy (that one has been used too little to matter, though).

Very, very impressive.

2. Have sublimation of blood.

And his max skill was Spellcasting at 27. It's like the whole run was just to troll Tavern!

And he only casted Haste 4 times. I clearly have no idea how to play this game.

Of course I was talking with 4thArra about this game. After some changes in recent versions, especially the removal of cTele (removed in 0.17) and active use of ring of teleportation (removed in 0.18), 4thArra had said "speedrunning is dead".

So both of us were really surprised about a 19 k game in 0.19! The following is from our chat yesterday:

Turgon: Hi - speedrunning isn't dead! PurpleRed won in 19 k in a 0.19 game!
4thArraOfDagon: hi
4thArraOfDagon: i saw it
4thArraOfDagon: that single game
4thArraOfDagon: deserves so much praise and attention
4thArraOfDagon: look at zot
4thArraOfDagon: 90turns from zot1 to orb
4thArraOfDagon: 200turns in abyss
Turgon: Well, it's a 0.19 game, a deep elf and "only" Veh
4thArraOfDagon: 4.7k for whole extended!
4thArraOfDagon: yeah
4thArraOfDagon: frankly that game had nothing to do with de or veh
Turgon: I didn't check but probably luck in every part of the game
4thArraOfDagon: yep
4thArraOfDagon: it could be any combo
4thArraOfDagon: with that kind of luck i could ascend dd within 16k
4thArraOfDagon: did you watch it btw?>
Turgon: no
4thArraOfDagon: please try
Turgon: I just had a look at scoring tables - and saw 75 Mio pts
4thArraOfDagon: it was like playing with ash
Turgon: :-)

Actually trolling the tavern was just one objective. Equally important was trolling all the other speed runners, by wandering off midgame on a two thousand turn sightseeing tour of orc and elf. But even that wasn't the primary objective, most importantly the the run was about trolling 4thArra by randomly mashing keys for the whole run and letting luck drag me through for the win. 8-)

When I do Zigs with Vehumet my mana consumption is close to 9MP/turn.
