CIP~ A Glich or a hidden secret?

PostPosted: Wednesday, 21st September 2016, 02:00

Hello everyone! Recently i found a few strange blocks, generated inaccessible to my character. I used scroll of magic mapping in the Halls of the Hellbinder and found these. What this actually could be? And how to access these? Watch the attachment below. Sorry for asking such a stupid question (may be) ... It's my first game and i am not going to lose it :ugeek:

Does not seem you could reach them besides random teleport. Seems to be just a quirk of random map generation, sometimes parts are unconnected from the main map-not often so small though.

Several areas have slightly randomized layouts where only one of a few possible paths are open the extra pathways are neither important nor really "secret"

By the way, if it's your first game, what are your skills currently?

It looks like your screenshot is more recent, but if you haven't-definitely train more dodging. I would consider using the +9 antimagic demon blade instead as well for the higher enchantment(both brands are good).

I have another question. I am a bit confused about is it worth to cure this set of mutations by drinking a potion of curing, and is there a way to cure only bad ones? Here is an attachment.

There's no way to remove only bad mutations, a cure mutation potion will take them away at random.

If you find the stat drain from deterioration is kicking in too often, cure them; otherwise save your potions until you come down with something worse. rC+ is a minor convenience if you don't have another source of it, but otherwise this set is not making much of a difference for or against you.

Dodging skill would help avoid triggering deterioration, btw.

Wear the +8 chain mail instead of the +0 scale mail and use those enchant armour scrolls to enchant your boots to +2. A +0 shield is not good enough to justify losing two-handed weapons and training Shields to 15 but now that the training is done let's hope you'll find a better shield...

Absolutely not - I have seen quite a few of these disconnected holes on Zot:5 (or maybe just in Zot in general), even in the versions where stone of tremors no longer even existed. Sometimes I think they were even filled with water.

True, but I'd probably have just settled with a buckler and put the exp somewhere else.

Maybe Trog will next gift a vampiric triple sword :)

Potions of curing give a bit of HP, cure confusion, and remove some rot. Potions of cure mutation will remove some mutations (good and bad) randomly.

Note that your demonspawn mutations (blue text) are permanent. At most, iirc, some of them can be suppressed temporarily by entering a different form (quaff lignification, get affected by enemy wand of polymorph, etc), but that's it. The Ds mutations are part of your species now.

These mutations you got aren't bad. First level deterioration is no big deal, -2 strength is not a big deal, as a Troglodyte you don't cast spells. I wouldn't worry about them.

As far as I know, the only way to remove bad mutations specifically is through Jiyva.

He/she 's playing 0.18 so getting the helix from a legendary or ornate deck of wonders/changes with some evocations could help as well, plain dex are a bit of a gamble.

Oh right, Helix — good call.

None of this really applies to the character though. The mutations aren't bad, and you want to stick with Trog anyway.

Like Dodging. Having only 1.8 Dodging with Dex 23 is bad.

Hello again! Thank you for your replies! There is a situation that confuses me completly. I went to the slime pits and faced a Royal Jelly there. After a long fight i have been forced to use a lot of minions to stay alive. The Jelly defeated me, because after reaching 50-60% of hp cap this smart boss started retreating and spamming tons of death oozes. My character had a buckler and a ring that were protecting from corrosion, but it looked like the slimes weren't give a fk about my resistances. They were piercing me hard. i need to find a way to make my character stronger to kill the jelly later on. I have an average supply of permafood and few options, like going to the Abyss, Pandemonium, Hell or staying in the pits and farming every single jelly spammed by the system. But there is a threat of a starving death, because jellies do not produce anything that could be eaten. Help me to choose a right option, please.

Well, if you want to get the slime rune, you'll just have to kill the Royal Jelly in a craftier manner. Staying out in the open and meleeing it is not a good idea. The best way to deal with TRJ is usually to lure it into the narrow corridors leading towards the altar in the center, where you apply a few buffs, summon a few allies to surround it, and then start whacking away (in this order), limiting the number of summons that can hit you (they can't appear where your summons stand, or in the walls) and also limiting its opportunities to escape. Other means of killing the Royal Jelly (probably not on this character) are a strong ranged attack plus Portal Projectile, and powerful area of effect attacks such as Fire Storm.

Attempting to farm Royal Jelly summons is the worst choice you could make: like all summoned monsters, you get no XP, items, or reward of any kind for defeating them.

I am lack on summons. I am afraid to fight the jelly with this character. Corrosion counters my character badly. I am thinking what to do if fighting a jelly is not an option.

Why haven't you entered Vaults? Vaults 1-4 is much easier than TRJ fight.

You have ring of resist corrosion, go inside the center corridors so you can't get surrounded as badly, quaff haste and might, use brothers in arms and murder TRJ

Don't forget agility. By the way I often switch from heavy armour to medium armour for Slime, it is the only branch where EV is more useful than AC.

Edit. Also replace the ring of corrosion with +3 ring of dexterity, you have rCorr on the buckler and it does not stack, 2 items with rCorr don't give more protection than a single item with rCorr.

You don't need to fight TRJ, and shouldn't your first game.

The way I like to kill TRJ is have fire resistance, be hasted, hit him a few times with wands from range to make him spawn a bunch of guys, then read a scroll of immolation, then kill a few guys with wands or melee and watch the world blow up. Be sure to have fire res, and don't use summons as they will get mad at you.

He has hardly any EV anyway, turn off all skills and just train dodging up to speed, you want to win but you can seriously get killed on a few bad rolls, surprised you managed so long with light armour and no dodging
