Unfortunately have to play offline again, cos my internet is too bad for online play atm. What to do with this guy? I don't have much experience with trolls. I only did Lair, Orc and D and already feel extremely weak because of my nonexistent defenses. What skills to train, what spells to pick? I feel like swamp will be really tough will all those hydras and I'm probably going to die there. Just please don't tell me to abandon spellcasting altogether. My dream is to cast firestorm with a troll :D

Certainly good enough for at least a single scroll - any hide armour is an improvement over robes for TR. Then see how playing feels, if you still feel atrociously squishy dump more into it, or - if you are feeling realllllyy lucky - poke into depth if you get a fire dragon /ice dragon.

The thing about trolls is--

You really want a shield
You also really want a dragon armor

Once you get both, it is basically a won game.
However
You have to play as if you aren't going to find a useful dragon armor until after Sbranches. That +2 robe is going to go far, because it has to.

A troll power curve looks like this
D to Lair- Amazing! o-tab o-tab!
Lair Orc, D to D15- Certain threats pose problems, but you can take (almost) anything in single combat. Groups of enemies become more common, and troublesome. Not yet hard, but each floor you decend, things are getting more difficult faster than you are getting stronger. XP is too scarce to branch out very much.
Sbranches - Weakest Point- You can still manfight anything, but you are no longer mostly in single combat situations. Pack Splitting, Luring, taking damage to win a fight, and then healing up to full is the opposite of your experience in early D. You play like a weak character manfighting in robes and no aux armor. You are still XP starved.

Vaults- Begin to stabalize. Large rocks becoming common is a major boon (or in this case, earth magic), and the motherload of Vaults XP is finally the place where you can begin to branch out. You likely have found a shield, and hopefully find a dragon Hide by now or in vaults.

Depths- If you make it to depths with a troll, have a dragon armor, and have a shield, game is easy again.

Powerful High HP Clawed Killing --> Game gets progressively more difficult faster than your character becomes progressively more powerful --> Play like a fragile character --> get armour and shield and enough XP to use them --> Powerful High HP Rock Throwing Killing machine.

In this case, with ash, you can branch out earlier, and instead of rocks it is Earth Magics, but the power curve remains basically the same.

Rip to 56 DMG bolt of draining from tzitzimitl, summoned by alich. I didn't even know it can do that much. I really should stop thinking that tzitzimeh are harmless.
