Paralysis death, no player interaction

I love DCSS but I don't like dying without any interaction. It has the feeling of a random coin flip, heads you die tails you lose. Granted I had very little time into this character so it's not very frustrating. But here is a situation where I was almost at full health and died with no interaction. Bad luck? With a dagger of chaos maybe but before it was over I was paralyzed, confused, and corroded. Did I make a mistake by attacking Psyche as a level 9 OgBe, is this an error?

Another bad RNG moment is being shafted 4 levels, but its fun and exciting to look for stairs, albeit you may already be dead but your in control.

Yes, Psyche will have either chaos or distortion, either one of which is nasty to be hit with, Ogres particularly suffer from poor defenses, which is partially compensated for with more hit points, but more hit points does little to nothing against some of the nastier weapon effects that Psyche can inflict on you, (Psyche is slightly less nasty if you are playing a character with high evasion and/or lots of SH, but I wouldn't recommend it even then, OTOH you can kill her at range fairly simply with a lot of builds.)

You should always assume that Chaos weapon will paralyze or banish or otherwise 'instakill' you, and treat them with the highest respect.

The only shaft from your log is 1 level only, and you can fall 3 floor at most anyway, so I don't think this could really happen to you. Unless you fell in another shaft right after moving after the first fall - but this isn't logged in your char dump.
